Emily tries to bond with Sharon. It doesn't work out.

Emily tapped lightly on the window, hoping not to startle Sharon but she'd seen her pressed up against it from her daily ‘constitutional’ walk, which consisted of her wandering the outdoors until she found something interesting. She'd been spending time a lot closer to the mansion since the whole Slender incident but she'd vowed to not let it completely change her habits, and outside was a habit she didn't want to break.

She hadn't seen the girl-shaped cat in a while and after her conversation with Liam, she’d been keeping an eye out for her. She wasn't entirely sure she'd be able to offer any words of comfort but sometimes you didn't need words.

The tap had been gentle, but Sharon reacted as if it had been a gunshot. Her head jerked up and her ears flattened down. While this behavior was mildly entertaining in a housecat it was significantly less so from a cat as large as Sharon in hybrid form. Patches of her fur were still missing from where Jean had needed to shave her to treat her injuries, including a large one that ran from her temple past her ear. She looked -- accurately -- like someone who had lost a fight, and badly.

Emily winced at the sudden movement, trying not to jerk away from the window. It wasn't Sharon’s fault given everything; even if she did look like she'd gone three rounds with a whipper-snipper and lost spectacularly. Not that her hybrid form hadn't been confrontingly odd, but that had been a little easier to take.

She pressed her hand back against the window, wondering if there was a way to confer through the glass that she just wanted to check-in. They didn't really _know_ each other but after the whole Slender thing it felt like maybe it was just kinda the right thing to do.

Sharon's ears lifted and the hairs on her back resettled when she realized who it was, but she did not relax. For a moment she stared at the younger girl, inscrutable as only a cat could be.

Then, without a word, she got up, slipped from the window seat, and disappeared deeper into the mansion.

Emily’s shoulders dropped in defeat. She hadn't wanted to scare Sharon away. She hoped the other girl was okayish, if not okay. Maybe she’d try again another time. Sometimes cats that were injured just wanted to hide away but if you showed them you were safe they got more comfortable with you.

Emily stood up straight and headed toward the lake. Maybe she could catch Namor out and about, or one of the mansion people. The day hadn't finished yet.
