Or Is He Both? - Into (Day 3)
Aug. 28th, 2024 02:40 pmThe team reaches a shadow base that seems like a possible off-the-book AIM base.
"Here!" Rick said, eyes absolutely glowing green with the sheer concentration of gamma rays he was detecting. "This has gotta be the place, man, it absolutely stinks of gamma." It was sooner than he had expected, since everything looked abandoned or built into the mountains. Unfortunately, his tracking wasn't exactly an exact science- just a universal game of hot and cold. And this? This was hot as hell.
Scott couldn't smell the gamma, but every instinct that a lifetime of combat had generated for him was screaming at him now that Rick was right, that this was the place they'd been looking for. A hand waved behind him, gesturing everyone down, "I think you're right, but we don't wanna shout out that we're here to everyone."
Marius eyed what was undeniably an entrance. The steel door had been obscured by a mass of scrub somewhere between brush and trees, and was visible only after turning off what had seemed to be a gravel utility road that cut up the side of the mountain. He wrinkled his nose. "Can't say I look forward to investigating. This whiffs of Lair."
"Definitely lacking in imagination," Nica agreed. Or her voice did - she'd shifted to x-rays at Scott's gesture and was currently invisible. "They might as well have a sign, 'Bad Guys-R-Us'."
"Why are we complaining about that then? This makes it easy for us. We know this is the place, and here we are! The good guys! Yay!" Rogue might have been a bit more cheerful than she needed to be but she was so ready to be done with all this. It was so frustrating that they could knock one down and four more would just pop up. Never-ending battle, truly. "X-Force would know for sure though, right?"
Sooraya studied the building with a frown. "Do we have the time to wait though? If there is that much gamma radiation present." Studying the entrance once more, she turned towards Cyclops. "I can go take a look... see what information we can gain?"
Scott tilted his head to the side for a moment before shaking his head, "If we end up facing off against AIM they might be able to detect you and if we're dealing with anything like the hulk I'd rather not spook them, or it. Let's see if X-force can turn anything up before we scout it out.”
