Laura meets Liam and Sharon, no blood was drawn.

Even though his knee was still far from being 100%, the brace was off and he could put at least some weight on it and that meant Liam was outside, happily up in his favorite tree doing homework. He'd added a sturdy hook to the side to hold his book bag so he didn't gave to keep climbing down again.

Setting his book down, he sniffed. That was new. What was he... who was he smelling? His ears began to rotate like little satellite dishes to catch the sounds as his tail quivered in interest.

It hadn't been long since Laura had arrived at the mansion but she was told it was a safe place. After her visit to the medbay to see how Sarah was doing, the young feral made her way outside for a breath of fresh air. The smells were overpowering as there was quite the number of residents living under this sanctuary of sorts. Making her way to the forest area she was told it was a good place to reset, as she picked up a scent of someone close by. She stopped and took off her headphones and sniffed the area before looking up at the tree. Remembering Sarah's words of making new friends in this place, she lifted a hand and gave a small wave.

Spying a new girl, Liam hissed, tail poofing and ears focused on her. Jumping down, even though he knew he shouldn't (though he didn't land on his bag knee, he wasn't completely dumb), he shoved his face in hers, canines bared. She smelled wrong.

Laura didn't flinch as the stranger came close to her, into her personal bubbles. She sniffed him again, "You are a little close, Cat. Sarah told me that personal bubbles are something to be respected. That it is rude to get too close, no matter how they smell. Unless you are an enemy, but Kyle said everyone at the mansion is not an enemy and are friendly. Ish."

"You smell weird," Liam proclaimed, but he did back off. She was right. He knew better. "I don't like it."

"Kitten is careless to pounce before investigation. Dangerous things may lurk in these woods. This we have seen."

A great purple cat appeared from the bushes, head and tail lowered in a predatory slink. Sharon placed herself strategically between Liam and the newcomer and regarded Laura with her huge yellow eyes.

"The stranger who smells of metal will identify herself," Sharon demanded.

Laura looked around at the surrounding woods,"I was told these woods were relatively safe as they are within the boundaries of the mansion." She looked back at the purple cat that appeared, taking in her scent as well. "Well, I wasn't the one acting aggressively. I simply waved. Unless that is not meant as a friendly greeting." She looked at both of them, "Laura. My name is Laura." Feeling great pride swelling up in her as she was finally able to introduce herself to others with the name that Sarah gave to her. "The metal you smell is adamantium. And no, it isn't natural. I also don't like the smell." She looked over at the one called Kitten. "I have introduced myself. What are yours?"

"Like she said, we're on Xavier grounds," Liam protested, pushing Sharon out of the way. Now that he understood why she smelled weird, it made more sense. "I'm Liam. She's Sharon. Ignore her, she thinks she's the boss. You're new here?"

"Is you Kyle spoke of," Sharon said, tone almost accusing. The tip of her tail swished slowly: an intensely worrying sign to anyone familiar with her body language. Even shoved aside, she continued to stare at Laura. "A feral, but not Cat. Unlike Kyle also. I see no evidence of atavistic traits."

"Yes. I was brought here for safety." Laura shook her head. "I do not have those physical traits." She took note of the tails and ears. "Are there others? I am beginning to piece together that ferals stick together, or am I wrong?" She asked, given the situation she just witnessed.

"Not everyone's a cat, yeesh," Liam rolled his eyes. "Sharon and I are both cats. Clearly. And we do. There aren't any other ferals in our age- group though, the others are all adults. But you can hang, if you want. What grade are you in?"

"I was tutored since I was a kid and 'graduated' early last year. If I wasn't training, I was doing my studies." Laura liked how the situation had de-escalated. "I did have my seventeenth birthday last February. Do I still fit in the age group?"

"I am twenty-one." Which was not an answer, but Sharon didn't care. The metallic undercurrent to her scent wasn't what had her on edge, but Laura's body language. Twice before she had seen Kyle when he wasn't intentionally making himself smaller, more acceptable to human company -- the times he allowed himself to be perceived as a predator. The first time it had been to make a point. The second time he had nearly clawed a woman's face off.

Laura moved like that all the time.

Her posture wasn't aggressive. It didn't need to be. There was a smooth intentionality to her movements that meant stillness could become violence in an instant. Liam, raised among humans, had never needed to develop a sensitivity to this sort of non-verbal communication, but to Sharon it was all she could see.

The fur on her tail started to rise, just slightly.

"I'm 17, too. I'm a senior," he was glad to have someone else in his age group, even if she wasn't in school. He recognized her body language, she was confident. She also mentioned training. There was nothing wrong with either, he was getting training too, and he was confident. Well. He was confident that his knee sucked currently and it was better not to test it.

Laura nodded, aware that she was being studied. "I would like to hang out. What do people our age do when hanging out?"

"Human ways are mysterious," Sharon replied shortly. "Kitten, we must leave. We have an agreed upon social engagement."

"Subtle. Like a brick to the face," Liam responded, climbing back up his tree with relative ease, though he still babied his bad knee, "I'm doing homework, I have calculus due tomorrow. But we can watch a movie or something later?"

Laura continued to watch them. The one called Sharon didn't like her, but wasn't hostile. Liam, who was hostile, turned to be friendly. It also appeared that he had been injured as he wasn't pulling his full weight on one of his legs. "Calculus is a hard subject. But once you get it, you get it. I'll be around to watch that movie, if I am still invited by then." She was only speaking to Liam at this point. "Bye." She lifted her hand and waved, just like how she did it before. And turned towards Sharon one last time before turning her back to both of them and walking further down the path.

"See you later!" Liam called, smiling at Laura. She was cute.

Sharon watched the girl leave, yellow eyes narrow.

"Yes," she said, suspicion clinging to every syllable. "Later."
