backdated log: Liam and Kyle
Jul. 24th, 2024 11:18 amSet a little after this log with Madin, Liam goes to an adult about things. There's a limit to what Kyle can do though.
Avoiding Kyle was easy since he wasn't super mobile after getting rescued and Kyle was apparently living at the gym. Now though, Liam was getting antsy about not moving though and he wanted to do something, even if he did have to baby his leg some more. Weights were an option. And he needed to talk to Kyle.
Heading to the free weight area of the gym, Liam made eye contact with Kyle very deliberately as he headed over, message clear. Come over here.
Kyle had a moment of warning on the air before Liam came into the gym, and had started to set his weights down - arm day was boring, even Emotions were a great excuse to stop doing curls. "Sup?" He said, while wiping down the bench.
"Madin," Liam answered without preamble, though he did start his own weight routine for his upper body, "I'm not sure what their trauma is, but it's bleeding all over me and I've got my own, I don't want theirs. But long incomplete story short, they think Sharon is grooming me. In the bad way. But also not sexually? And this is way over my pay grade mowing the lawn."
Kyle stopped. Possibly in the entire time Liam had known him, he had never stopped moving, but he was utterly still for a moment, confusion writ large on his face. "Madin what? Do... they know Sharon's.." He rubbed his face with both hands. "I mean feral's the word we use for our powers, but Madin knows Sharon was raised real weird, right? Basically like feral, but the actual kind, not the powers kind?"
Liam paused his reps, shrugging. "I told them it wasn't like that, but I'm a minor so what do I know?" that he thought that was stupid and was absolutely livid was practically palpable. "Clearly, she's over 18, I'm under 18, therefore everything's wrong," he didn't mention that his roommate was over 18 that literally everyone in the mansion was except Emily and Hope. And they were both 16.
"Well, that's some drama... " Kyle sat back down on the bench. "If Madin's got a real problem they should probably talk to one of us, and they haven't as far as I know." He paused, and reached for his phone. "Fuck, I should maybe.. " He paused. "I should, but I'm not the best person for talking Madin down, not right now." Jean-Philippe had largely hinted that what he'd seen wouldn't go into an official mission report, but that didn't do a lot for Kyle's guilt or worry that someone else might have seen the human ear on the ground before they cleared out all the rescued mutants from Bloodstone's compound. "Besides being up in your business about it, are they doing anything harassing?"
"Isn't being up in my business harassment?" Liam asked, "They've made Sharon uncomfortable. And me. I'm now second guessing how everyone sees our friendship and us being cats, which sucks. I haven't been this selfconscious since I was 12 probably. And it sucks. Because Sharon gets me, you know? But also, she understands and respects boundaries, when she knows where they are. She's kinda bad at identifying them herself though."
Kyle waggled a hand. "Harassment is like, continual? If it's like once or twice and Madin backed off when you told them to stop, it's not actually harassment, it's just being a jerk. It's a grey area, if you feel harassed and like you're being pushed into something you don't want, then we act, if it's just that Madin's a jerk but you feel safe, then we help you find good tools to, I dunno, de-escalate or something."
"Ugh," Liam groaned. "Can't you tell them to stop being a jerk because I don't want it to cross into harassment?" because Madin didn't listen to him, clearly.
"I can't, I'm so the wrong guy. Madin and me are like, at a passable truce. But." Kyle tilted his head and stopped speaking for a few seconds. "I can see who will help get them to back off, worse I'll see if Alani can reach out, or Rogue."
Growling a little under his breath, Liam didn't argue that. Relationships were a thing and he appreciated that Kyle was up front with it instead of being vague about it. "Yeah, okay," he agreed. "Thanks."
"Sorry man. I can also see if Haller's got ideas, he's usually good for some 'splaining' about stuff, but he's also maybe broke his brain. Or recovering from broken brain."
That... you know what? Liam wasn't touching that with a 10ft pole. "I guess I'll figure it out, it's fine," Liam assured his teacher.
