Inez offers to volunteers at the community center.

"Inez..." Sooraya handed the book to the little girl and watched as he quickly ran over to his friends before striating up and smiling at her fellow mansionite. "I don't think I've seen you much around the community center. Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Heya," she said, giving Sooraya a little wave with one hand before sliding her thumb back into the pocket of her jeans, mirroring her other one. "I haven't been around much but I figured it'd be nice t'get out, maybe try an' lend a hand if one was needed," Inez reasoned. "Keep myself busy an' all, give somethin' back. That kinda thing."

"Extra hands are always welcome." Sooraya smiled and gestured to a nearby bench where she could still easily keep an eye on the children. "Did you have any idea of what you'd like to do?"

"Hmm, somethin' outdoors would be nice, though I'm not sure how much of that is available this time of year," she wondered aloud. "Anythin' physical is probably up my alley, something with sports or havin' them be active?" Inez shrugged, not having really thought this true but knowing she wanted to help. "I can do other stuff too, but that's where my strengths are at, I reckon."

"Hmm, we do have various sports activities for the children. I'm not sure if there are any openings at the moment, but an extra set of hands are always welcome." Narrowing her eyes a little, she added: "And we can maybe look at other outdoors things once you've found your way around a bit?"

"Lucky for you I've got two of 'em," she said with a smirk, keeping her thumbs hooked into her pockets but raising her fingers and wiggling them at Sooraya. "That makes sense, I have no idea what I'm doing here or where anythin' is so warmin' up to the spot is probably for the best," she agreed. "Just point me in the right direction, if y'don't mind."

"Yeah... about that..." Sooraya shifted a little. "There is some paperwork involved, since you'll be working with kids. But I can introduce you to a few people who lead the sports activities today, if they're around. Gives you the chance to get the lay of the land, so to speak."

"I'd like that. Gotta start somewhere, after all," Inez said. It only made sense that she'd have to fill some things out, given the nature of the volunteer position, but she was more than willing to oblige if it gave her something useful to do. "Wherever y'wanna take me, once I get everythin' signed, I'm down."

"I've the paperwork in my office and I know at least one or two people are around." Sooraya glanced around, trying to find someone who could take her spot. "What do you wanna do first?"

"I'm not sure what all y'offer, so I'll leave that up to you," Inez said, stepping aside to let Sooraya join her to head out wherever she wanted to take them. "Maybe somethin' with sports if there's anything goin' on?" she ventured to guess.

Having spotted one of the volunteers, Sooraya quickly gestured her over and explained that she had to deal with something. Finally she turned back to Inez: "Why don't I just show you around and introduce you to the sports people we may find. And we'll stop by the office to grab the paperwork."

"Alrighty then, sounds like a plan," Inez agreed. "Thanks again f'r lettin' me do this, Sooraya. It'll help me out a lot I think, keepin' me occupied and all that. An' payin' back to the community," she quickly added, lest the other woman think this was solely about distracting herself from her thoughts.

Sooraya grinned, shaking her head. "Keeping you occupied is one thing you don't have to worry about here. There is plenty to do. Besides helping with the kids, there is a lot of stuff. You don't happen to be a bit of a handyman, do you?"

"Maybe a little, I'm nothin' special but I grew up needin' t'learn how to fix the odd thing here an' there," she confessed. "I can do in a pinch, I reckon, especially if y'have the tools. What needs fixin', I can give it a whirl," Inez offered, glad to be handy, even if it might have been more literal than she'd expected.

"No worries if you can't." Sooraya shook her head with a grin, lacing some humor in her voice. "Maybe cooking is more your speed? Or simply chopping?"

"Choppin' is a can-do for sure, but I don't think anyone wants to voluntarily be forced t'endure my cookin'," Inez replied with a chuckle. "'Cept if they like simple things like peanut butter sandwiches or microwaveable dinners, heh. But cuttin' stuff up, sure, let me at 'em!"

"No cooking.. that's noted." Sooraya did take a mental note or two, while continuing to glance around. Finally she pinpointed one of the people she was looking for. "There we go... let me introduce you to one of the soccer coaches..."

"Sounds good t'me, let's go kick it with 'em," Inez said before she could stop herself, oops. "Sorry, couldn't resist, heh," she added with a wry grin. "Lead the way, ma'am," she said with a wave of her hand, before heading off to start her entry into the world of volunteer work.
