Jono had had his measurements taken once before- years ago when Georgie and Rhys had forced him to audition for a Shakespeare thing at school. Traitorous bastards hadn't even auditioned themselves.

He was used to baggier clothing in general - the occasional form fitting tank top or plain t-shirt, but overall he thrived in things that were oversized and comfortable - made it easier to move however he wanted on stage. Whatever was going to stop him from burning everything around him though, that was going to have to be form fitting...he just hoped the chest cavity didn't make it look too weird when Megan was done.

Across the room, Pixie popped up from behind her bins of fabric. "Hi Jono!"

She practically bounced towards him, grabbing a cloth measuring tape and tugging it from its dispenser a few times with a satisfying zip!

"First I'm just going to take some quick measurements over your wrappings," she said, grinning. This was going to be a challenge--and she was thrilled.

"Yeah, of course." He said as normally as he could. "They're a bit bulky because of the er...well fire blanket of it all. I suppose the good news is that since I don't eat or breathe we don't necessarily have to worry about the give of the fabric too much?.....I uh- I also brought some photos of the things I wore before I exploded....if that would help you at all."

Life had been so much easier when he wasn't worried about setting fire to his clothing.

Pixie paused in her measurements. "Wonderful! I'd love to see them. We are going to craft something functional and comfortable... emotionally and physically. It's armor, but it's also how you want to present yourself, you know?" She jotted down some notes and handed him a swatch of fabric. "Speaking of comfort, feel this. Option one: fiberglass. Super common in fire blankets, and probably what your wrappings are made of? Great thermal barrier, lightweight - but isn't it kind of scratchy?"

Jono's nose scrunched up a bit as he felt it. "Rather scratchy innit? I don't mind it too bad- I think the ones I've got are wool- they were from a secondhand shop. But I don't think Paige would like the feel of that very much."

Pixie nodded. "Wool's nicer, more breathable and way more comfortable. I think it would be good for the liner - a thin, flexible layer," she added, handing him another swatch. "For the core layer, here's Option Two: silica fabric. It's made of quartz, how cool is that? High temperature resistance, low thermal conductivity, and it's abrasion-resistant, too. It's used in fire fighters' gear, and even to insulate nuclear power plants."

Jono's eyes squinted in an instinctive smile- it wasn't rough, wouldn't get too hot to touch, and Paige would probably enjoy knowing that she could turn her skin to match the material...at any rate it would make him feel better to know that there was a material that Paige could replicate to keep herself safe if something happened. "Yeah this seems great. Er- for the pictures...I realized as I was gathering these that most of the photos I have of myself before exploding were from shows so perhaps a little....showy. Though I'm not opposed to having more things like that I suppose."

"Okay, enough geeking out about fabric!" Pixie hooked her ankle around a stool and dragged it out, sliding onto the seat. She spread the photos out on the worktable, her all-black eyes lighting up with each one. "So I'm hearing: fireproof, flattering, and versatile. We'll build a staple piece with a nice fit that we can build onto for bigger looks."

She grabbed a pencil and started sketching. "So like a high-collared jacket with a tailored waist, sort of Edwardian but modern? You can add a scarf to lean into glam-rock."

Jono could go on a rant about the differences in types of alternative styles and how he had never once ever in his life been able to be described as "glam rock" but chose not to. "Anyway we could grunge it up a bit? More goth and grunge as opposed to.....glam?"

Pixie laughed, not at Jono but at herself. "Of course!" She flipped to a new page. "We'll probably stick with black, but more textured. And it's still got a silhouette, but asymmetrical hem and closures? Speaking of closures, we can add belts and buckles."

"Yeah sure, any ideas for sort of more basic shirts that I can layer under jackets I've already got?" Paige liked his battle jacket, or at least she said she liked it- so he was loathe to stop wearing it, even if he did like the sound of the jacket that Megan was sketching up.

"Definitely. With a couple staples, some basic shirts, you can mix and match." She rambled on about how wool could actually feel cooler than cotton in the summer while she sketched. "... And when you have a curated wardrobe, you don't need a ton of clothes."

Exactly! Lord knows I don’t need to be contributing to landfills with poorly made shite that I won’t even wear.” His eyes crinkled in a smile. “Thanks for doing this, really.

Pixie nodded. "It's honestly my pleasure. Of course, if you ever do find yourself accumulating too much for some reason, I take mutant-friendly clothing donations to the District X kids once a year or so." It was the great cycle of stuff, she thought, tapping the pencil to the side of her face. On that note... she might have to check with her source of extra silica fabric soon.

"Noted." He said warmly. "If any of them want to get more into punk fashion, let me know? I'd be happy to teach them some classic punk DIY skills."
