Jubilee had always loved summer the most, even as a kid. It wasn’t just that she felt the cold a little more than most people but that everything most loved in her memories seemed to be eternally lit by a Californian summer sun.

She hummed along to the song currently playing from her phone. Jubilee had set the playlist to random, and used the mansions storage. She was always finding the best new music that way, even if she did tend to play the most obnoxious Britney Spears any time her colleagues had to drive with her.

If she couldn’t make Marie-Ange and Amanda roll their eyes, was she really even trying?

“Think fast!”

Jubilee’s cry was to give Garrison enough time to pick a side of the path as she barreled down it at break neck speed.

Kane simply plucked her up by the collar as she tried to rollerblade past, holding her up like an old fashioned troll who took his prey. He waited until she'd very angrily rotated around to meet him face to face. "Hey lee."

"Hey! No fair," Jubilee cried, allowing herself to rotate again, before sticking her tongue out at him.

"Running over me is a bad idea. I stopped the wolf from charging." Although Gord snuffled up and licked her hand.

Jubilee grinned at Gord and winked as she tapped Garrison’s hand to let her down. She crouched and gave the wolf a proper greeting, complete with random treat she’d started carrying around.

“As if Gord wouldn’t know my smell anywhere.” Jubilee replied with a scoff, although it should be noted she didn’t reach forward for a hug. She was familiar enough with him to be comfortable but he was still a wild animal as far as she knew. “‘Sides, you’re too solid to run over, it’d be like hitting the side of a building.”

"Come on. Let me buy you a drink. Or maybe a soda. You're being very twitchy." Kane said.

“Twitchy is where I live,” Jubilee noted but she followed after Garrison easily, pushing out in front every so often to let off some of the energy she always seemed to have. “Did I tell you what happened the first time I ever had a red bull?”

"If it is sex, probably." Kane said jokingly.

“Maybe then,” Jubilee noted with a grin. Shame was something other people suffered from. “It was really good though.”

"One of the issues of preternatural endurance. Caffeine doesn't do anything for me. Or nicotine. Most drugs until you get to ridiculous levels." Kane said with a shrug. "Thank god I hold two jobs for the alcohol requirements for a good buzz."

Jubilee, in deference to the fact that one of those jobs amounted to ‘cop’, did not mention the fact that she hadn’t paid for alcohol or anything else for a good long while. Reasons being numerous and only one of them being ‘guys think I’m hot’

“So no pineapple exception for you then?”

"Sadly no." He shrugged as they walked along. "The only upside to nearly wasting away was being able to really enjoy edibles."

“Dude, I’d say that sucks but like, wasting away vs you being here and alive there’s not much in that choice.”

Jubilee continued to skate, knowing Garrison wouldn’t find it hard to keep up. Benefits of knowing people with enhanced bodies - no need to go slow.

The wolf got in front of her, slowing her down. Kane chuckled. "He doesn't like us getting too far apart."

“Easier to protect the pack when you’re all in one place,” Jubilee theorized as she readily accepted the slowdown, reaching out to brush her nails lightly through his fur before dropping back to beside Kane. “How are you?”

"Easy question, complicated answer. Physically, I'm great. Romantically, even better. Mentally... I'm dealing with some things. Things I can't solve by hitting people really hard... which I'm really good at, or putting bad guys in jail... which I'm also really good at."

“They got you seeing a professional yet?”

Jubilee for all her myriad problems, and they were many, had always been of the opinion that seeing actual trained people on a regular basis at least kept you from villain monologues. Luckily Emma had said professionals on staff. She was fairly certain the X-Men had similar arrangements.

"Talked to a few people in Canada. Haven't followed that up yet." Kane shrugged. "I'm waiting for Xavier to let me know I have an appointment that I'm sure I didn't make."

“He’s always been good at that.”

Jubilee let the silence stretch after that, something she felt would be surprising to anyone who dealt with her on a daily basis but Garrison’s company had always been comfortable enough that she didn’t feel compelled to speak.

She looked at Gord again, almost wistful.

“Think if I found a stick he’d play fetch?”

"I think he'll be angry at you for thinking he's a dog. But he loves when you skritch him." Kane confirmed.

“Then all the scratches he shall have,” Jubilee replied, reaching over to give him said scritches. “You want to check out the new food truck in Westchester?”

"The smashburger spring rolls? Let's get a double order before Harry's." Kane said with a nod.
