Random loglet with Angelo and Jonothan.
Jun. 6th, 2004 03:18 pmIn which they talk about nothing important, as it so often seems to be the case. Angelo is being nice, and Jono is invited to California.
The silent skritch skritch of a pen on paper filled the room. It was a little unusual to have the place so quiet, with Jono's penchant for listening loud music most of the time. He was lying on his stomach, a pillow propping him up, and writing something with a frown of concentration on his face.
Angelo walked in and glanced at Jono in some confusion. He'd never seen him quite so absorbed in anything before. Dropping onto his bed, he asked curiously, "What you doin'?"
Jono covered the paper casually, and rolled onto his side. "Writing music", he said, twirling the pen.
Angelo blinked, then grinned. "For real? For the band?"
"Yeah." Jono nodded. "I mean, if we ever want to be more than just the school band." He said it like it was obvious they'd want to be more.
Angelo nodded back. "Sounds pretty cool to me. You told the others yet?"
Jono shrugged with one shoulder. "No. I asked Jamie if he'd ever thought about it, but that's all."
Angelo grinned. "Alison's going to have a fit. In the good way."
"She might." Jono gave Angelo a doubtful look, then he focused on his pen. "She hasn't been too happy with me lately. I think."
Angelo blinked. "You... mean the thing she said to Nate's post? Well, yeah. But writin' songs for the band'll buy you back a lot of brownie points."
Jono didn't seem too convinced. "Suppose we'll see about that." He flopped onto his back, looking up at Angelo. "What about you, then? What've you been up to?"
Angelo shrugged. "Finals, mostly. Not so much since they finished - 's been nice." He suddenly seemed to remember something. "Oh yeah, me an' Lorna are plannin' a trip to California in the break. You up for taggin' along?"
"Don't know." Jono thought about it. "Just you and Lorna?"
"Don't think so for a second", Angelo answered quickly. "If only 'cause she wouldn't go without Alex. Alison an' the kids, too, probably, maybe Bobby an' Jane. An' I'll be askin' Paige when I know exactly when we're goin'."
Jono's eyebrows had risen higher each time Angelo mentioned a new name. "Yeah. I don't know. But I'll think about it."
Angelo nodded. "It'll be fun, you know. Real sunshine, too."
"Oh, right, like that's something I'm just dying for." Jono fluffed his pillow, rolling his eyes. "Sunshine and beach games? That's what you're planning, aren't you?"
Angelo shrugged. "Might be. I know that's not your thing, we can probably arrange other stuff too."
"No, it's all right, don't want to deprive you of the fun you might have just because some people should never be seen naked." For once Jono didn't seem very upset about looking like he did.
Angelo blinked. "... Where did that come from? Never said anythin' about what you had t'wear on the beach, I know you couldn't go without the bandages an' it'd be hard to explain."
Jono waved a hand, dismissing the whole thing rather than explain he'd been more worried about himself feeling like an outsider, than anything else. "Never mind."
Angelo frowned slightly, but let it drop. "So, what're you plannin' for the summer?"
"Nothing," Jono replied simply. "Don't have anywhere to go, or anything to do."
Angelo raised an eyebrow. "Nothin' to do? With the band, an' all the classes they're offerin'?"
Jono was quiet for a while, then he sat up, tossing the pen on the desk. "It's nothing, I don't know, meaningful. I've been here over a year now, and I've done nothing worth anything." He shrugged, looking like he might continue, but then didn't.
Angelo nodded. "What'd you call "worth anythin'", then?"
"I'll tell you when I figure it out," Jono said, a little more sharper than he had intended.
Angelo blinked at the sharper tone. "Fair enough, man", he said peaceably - he didn't consider this worth getting into an argument over, not when he was in a good relaxed mood.
Jono collected the notebook he'd been scribbling in and got up. "I'm going to go to the music room to try this out," he announced, moving towards the door.
Angelo nodded. "Good stuff - hope you get it to yourself, if that's what you want."
"Yeah, whatever", Jono said before closing the door in his wake.
