Angelo stops by to get his gift for Santorini, and helps Nathan plot sneaky fun for Moira.

When the day's official activities finished, Angelo wandered along to Nathan's room, to collect the present Nathan had mentioned that day in class. Arriving at the door, he knocked and waited, only a little impatiently.

Hearing the knock, Nathan opened his eyes, but continued the telekinetic exercise he'd been working on. "Come in," he called as the coin-set Marie had given him months ago rotated in fractal patterns around the room, all several hundred pieces of it. "Watch your head, though."

Angelo opened the door and walked into the room carefully, dodging flying coins. "Hey."

"Hey yourself," Nathan said amiably, and started to pull the coins back down into their box. "Just doing a little practicing - been falling way behind on that the last few weeks, with everything that's been happening." As the coins showered into the box, almost melodically, he inclined his head in the direction of a box sitting on the desk. "That's for you," he said.

Angelo grinned and headed for the desk, trying to lift the box and raising an eyebrow at the weight of it. When he took the lid off, his eyes widened, as did his grin, and he reached in to lift out the replica Greek helmet. "This is so cool."

Nathan grinned. "Batting a thousand so far, then," he said, watching Angelo examine the helmet. "It's Athenian. They had all different varieties, but I figured you'd prefer that one."

Angelo nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, it's great. Thanks!"

"Heavy as hell in the luggage, though," Nathan said with a chuckle, his smile fading a little as he thought of the other thing he'd bought in that shop. "I trust your roommate won't object to the addition to the decor?"

Angelo was still studying his new possession. "Jono? Nah, he won't mind. It'll be in my side of the room, an' I think he'll like it, anyway."

"Well, it is black," Nathan said helpfully, and telekinetically closed the box of coins as the last ones landed on top of the pile. "I'm gradually getting all the gifts delivered," he said, and then grinned again, a little sheepishly. "Although Moira and I both bought things for each other that are supposed to be secrets. You should have seen us yelping and grabbing at stuff as we were sorting it all out."

Angelo laughed, apparently not quite willing to put his present down yet. "You manage to keep them secret?"

"Well, I think she spotted the jewelry box," Nathan said, making a face. "You want to see?"

Angelo nodded with a grin. "Sure!"

"I have this thing about buying her jewelry," Nathan muttered, closing his eyes and concentrating, thinking of the spot in the bedroom where he'd stashed the box. "Worry sometimes that she's going to get the idea that I think she needs decoration..."

Angelo laughed. "Don't think you gotta worry about that." His attention was caught by something moving beyond the bedroom doorway, and he turned to see the jewellery box floating towards them.

"No?" Nathan said, and surprised himself by nearly dropping the box as he floated it over. "Crap," he muttered, letting it land lightly on the table in front of the couch. "Think I was at the coin-exercise for a little long today..."

Angelo shrugged. "Well, just 'cause you think jewellry suits her, don't mean you think she needs it t'look good. She's smart, I'd think she'd get that."

Nathan picked up the box. "Yeah, well, I'm hopelessly insecure," he quipped. "It's part of my charm."

Angelo grinned ruefully. "You're not the only one. Just gotta hope it's really charmin'."

Nathan snorted, opening the box and taking the necklace out carefully. "I actually had to recruit the waitress at the little cafe we had lunch at that day to distract Moira while I went back for this," he said. The necklace was white-gold and looked like a chain of flowers, with diamonds as the petals and sapphires in the center of each flower. It glittered, even in the fading light.

Angelo chuckled. "Shouldn't think she minded." He looked at the necklace. "'s really nice."

"Not sure when I'm giving it to her," Nathan said, laying it carefully back in its box. "I did sneakily buy her several other things she didn't spot, so I might just go ahead and stick this in her jewelry box and see if she notices." He smirked. "Then again, that might take a while..."

"Set up a night out", Angelo suggested. "Somewhere fancy, so she'd want to wear jewelry."

"Somewhere she could wear that white dress again," Nathan said, and couldn't help the goofy smile.

Angelo laughed. "That'd be the idea, yeah."

Nathan stared down at the box for a moment, and then, philosophically, shoved it under the couch. "We had a good time," he said with a smile. "Can't wait to get the pictures all sorted out..."

Angelo grinned. "Yeah, that'll be fun. Looked like a really pretty place, from the postcards."

"It was. Really, really vertical, though." Nathan snorted. "I actually lost weight, just from dragging myself up and down all those damned stairs with this." He tapped the cast.

Angelo raised an eyebrow. "You didn't get t'float yourself at all?"

"Only when no one was looking. Which was less often than you'd think." Nathan shrugged. "Ah, well. Probably good for me." Except that Moira was not at all happy about it. She and Madelyn had been muttering at that impromptu little check-up she'd dragged him down to the infirmary to have.

Angelo blinked. "Walkin' up an' down stairs on a broken leg? What definition of "good" do you work by?"

"I'm out of shape," Nathan said cheerfully. "It was probably very good for me."

Angelo chuckled. "If you say so. Well, I think it's just about time for dinner, so I'll leave y'to it, I guess," he said, putting the helmet back in its box. "See you later."

"Sure thing," Nathan said with a smile. As Angelo departed, he leaned back into the couch and closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying the mental image of Moira in the white dress.
