Friday afternoon, set some point after this e-mail, Shiro goes to find Alex and tell him he's going to Japan. Short log.


Shiro had never been so excited to get an e-mail before. But the message he'd just received from Mariko had him bouncing in his seat. He had not been in Japan since he first arrived in America months ago, and he was dying for a taste of real culture again. And the fact that Mariko wanted Alex to come to made it all the better. Now all that Shiro needed was to tell Alex that they were going to Tokyo for a month. He found him, unsurprisingly, outside skating.

Alex did a jump down some stairs, landing on the railing half way and sliding the rest of the way down. He landed right in front of Shiro, a doping grin on his face as he unsnapped his helmet. "What's up dude? You look rather up today..."

"You're coming to Japan with me," Shiro said, smiling. "I hope you didn't have any plans in August . . ."

Alex was taking off his helmet as Shiro spoke and he wanted to make he heard him right. First he just gave the other boy a blank blink then a very blonde, "Wha?"

Which made him laugh outloud. "You. Me. Tokyo. Fly. Vacation," he said, putting it in simple language for his roommate. "Does it make sense now?"

Now Alex laughed, both at Shiro's simplifying it for him and the idea. "You serious man? That's awesome!"

"Would I joke about going to Japan? Mariko wants me home for the month, and said that you can come too if you'd like." Shiro was practically hopping in place, he was so excited. "So what do you say?"

"Dude, how can I say no!?" Alex was also now practically jumping up and down, just as excited about the trip as he was for his friend. "What's the professor got to say? He okay with it?"

"I haven't yet asked. But I don't think he would say no, since it is summer vacation." Shiro grinned. "You'll have more trouble trying to convince your brother and your girlfriend to let you go abroad for a month."

Alex rolled his playfully. "Geez no kidding, especially after last time I up and left." He put his hands up to show he was kidding. "While you get the okay from the professor, I'll work on them."

"I leave them in your most capable hands." Chuckling, Shiro turned back to go inside and write a response to his cousin. "Try not to break yourself. It won't be any fun dragging you around Tokyo if you can't walk because you fell down while skating."

Alex flashed a smug grin. "Don't worry, my skating skills have yet to fail me and they won't today!" He put his helmet back on, snapping it under his chin. "You just make sure you'll be able to keep up!" He stuck out his tongue quickly at his roommate before kicking off.
