Special training...
Aug. 18th, 2003 02:36 pm"Miss Morlocke. Would you care for a drive?" Essex said, folding his labcoat and rummaging around his desk for keys.
Sarah shrugs, and then nods. "Yeah, I won't turn down a chance to get out of here for a while. Where are we going?"
"Lunch actually. I just have found you a tutor." Essex said, leading the way out of the basement and into the car garage. He tossed his bag into the back seat of his BMW and sat down. "I hope you like Mexican."
Sarah looks at him in disbelief for a moment, and gets into the car."Mexican's fine." She says, turning to face him. "You found me a tutor?"
"Something like that." Essex gunned the engine and headed down the roadway to the highway. "He doesn't have specific abilities like yours, however, he is an expert trainer and understands about control and self-awareness. My belief is that you should have an awareness of each bone that grows, which means you should be able to perform all sorts of actions with them. If anyone can assist in that, it would be John."
"So you think he can help?" She sounds like she's not quite convinced.
"Well, I think he's the best place to start. If he can't, all we've lost is some time." Essex said. "Miss Morlocke, I cannot and will not make promises to you that I cannot justify. However, I will not allow your condition to be ignored until you've signed on as a card carrying X-Man."
Sarah almost laughs at the thought of becoming an "X-man", but instead she just shrugs again. "I guess it can't hurt to try. Do you know what he'll have me do?" She asks, feigning disintrest.
"I'm not really sure. I would assume a great deal of martial arts style concentration and the like. Becoming minutely aware of your body and how it moves and reacts. The Major has been training US Rangers for the last five years, and spent fifteen years previous as one, so I can't imagine he'll waste your time."
"Oh." She nods, and pulls a bone from her leg, slender and jagged. She drops it on the floor of the car, and rubs the tender spot absently.
"At least you have your accelerated healing factor going for you." Essex said with a wry smile. "Knowing Major Grey Crow, you're going to need it."
She regards Essex with a raised eyebrow. "I'm tough. I can handle it."
"I certainity hope so, Miss Morlocke."
