They have another spar and some mostly inconsequential conversation.

There was a forty-five minute break in between Sarah's afternoon classes and the time where she pretty much closed herself up in her room for the rest of the night, excepting doggie breaks. That was when Sarah spent time in the gym, and today was just like any other. Well, maybe a little different. There's a little more determination in her eyes today, and she hits just a little bit harder. It's almost like she's preparing for something.

Angelo just happened to have chosen the same time slot for his gym session, walking into the room without looking. He paused to acknowledge Sarah's presence, calling out a casual, "Hi", before going into his stretches.

"Haven't seen you around in a while," she observed, going back to her workout with the punching bag. A punch, a hard kick and another punch in quick succession. "Though I guess that's as much my fault as any."

Angelo shrugged, not breaking his stretching. "I've been around. Guess we just haven't ended up in here at the same time lately."

She hadn't specifically meant -in the gym-, but since the subject was already breached, she nodded and turned her head to face him, arm held out to steady the still swinging bag. "Want to help me get ready? Nathan said he'd spar with me."

He nodded, with a faint grin as he finished his warm-up. "Now, that sounds like an offer I can't refuse."

"I thought you might be up for that." She stretched out a bit, arms raised as high as she could get them, a little bounce in her step to loosen up. "It's been a while."

Another nod, and he stood up straight and waited for her to be ready. "It has. Life gets in the way, I guess."

"Life here certainly does." She snapped a bone off at her hip, gave it a test swing or two, and stepped forward and swung it at him. Ready or not, here she comes.

Good thing Angelo was ready with a kick levelled at her leg, aiming to knock her balance away, and therefore send her swing wide.

He did throw her off some, but while she regained her balance she sent the bone in her hand at him, point first. Then she dropped her shoulder and threw herself into him.

Angelo rolled with the hit, dropping backwards to let her sail over his head - he hoped - then forward to get back to his feet.

At that close, Sarah could grab onto him, hands grabbing for at least his shirt, as he tried to flip her. Once airborne was enough for this week, thanks.

That made it impossible for him to send her flying as he'd hoped, but he was able to flip her sideways to prevent her from pinning him down, slamming her into the floor as hard as he could from that angle. Since her hands were bone-covered now, his shirt was torn and his chest scratched where she'd grabbed him.

She landed hard on her shoulder, and scrambled to her feet. Pulling a bone from her shoulder, and the other shard from her hip, She threw the sharp one at him and went forward swinging with the other.

He ducked the sharp one, since it could do the more damage, bracing himself for the hit from the other, while readying himself to retaliate in whatever way presented itself.

The longer bone hit his shoulder, and she grinned at the satisfying impact. That was probably going to leave a bruise.

Angelo rocked back for an instant, taking the hit, then punched out at her without warning, aiming to knock her away from him.

His punch caught her in the stomach, and she staggered back a moment before pulling another bone and swinging it at him again. Don't think about it.

Angelo threw an arm up to knock the bone away, not caring how sharp it was, and aimed another punch, at her face this time. This fight, like most of theirs, was going to be no holds barred.

She held out a bone covered hand to stop his fist, swatting it away. A split second later she swept a leg out at his ankles to knock him off balance.

He hadn't been paying attention to what her feet were doing - clumsy, he scolded himself - and therefore toppled backwards before he could catch himself. He did, however, manage to snap out a foot in an attempt to knock her down too.

Unfortunately, trying to kick while you fall doesn't leave much time for aim. His foot only brushed the top of her foot, and she took a step forward to pin him down. "Is this where I get to point and laugh?"

Angelo grinned lazily up at her. "No, this is where you get overconfident an' *I* point an' laugh." Before she could process that, he'd grabbed her ankle with one hand and yanked.

There was a sharp curse as she felt her foot pulled out from under her, and she went down on the floor with a thud. "Ow."

Angelo, as promised, raised his hand to point at her. "Haha. Told you."

"Oh shut up." She flicked a bone shard from her forearm at him, and rolled her eyes. "I wasn't really going to point and laugh..."

Angelo picked up the shard idly and rolled it in his hand. "Oh, you so were."

"Mhmm. You picked up telepathy while I wasn't looking?" She pushed herself up into a bridge stretch, listening to her joints pop, and then dropped back down to the floor.

He grinned unrepentantly, leaning up on one elbow. "No telepathy, no. But you so were."

"Prove it." There was an innocent look, followed by a lazy, self-satisfied grin. "Uh-huh. Thought so."

"Prove you weren't", he countered lightly.

"I know what I was thinking, tough boy." If Sarah were one to stick her tongue out, this would be her preferred come back. Since she isn't (not in public anyway), she just thinks it.

Angelo laughed and gave up the argument. "Oh, okay then. I still say you were, though."

She shot him another innocent look. "Does it really matter?" Pushing herself up off of the floor she tucked her hair back behind her horns. "Maybe I'll debate that in my next creative writing assignment."

"You still takin' Creative Writin'?" he asked, sitting up on his elbows.

"Fourth time, yeah." She grinned. "I'm not even sure if I'm getting credit for it anymore. 's not like I care, really."

Angelo shrugged. "Well, if you enjoy it, why not?"

"Yeah. I mean, I enjoy it more than most of the other classes here. And since I'm not planning on actually doing anything with myself, I might as well take classes that don't make me want to test different ways to kill myself." While she talked, she traced a finger along imaginary patterns on her knee, watching the scratches appear and fade.

He nodded, worried by the comment about not doing anything, but not sure how to address it or if he even should. Instead, he poked at the scratches on his chest, which weren't disappearing like hers. "Good thing I didn't particularly like this shirt..." he commented absently.

"Oh, come on. You know sparring with me is worth losing a shirt." She grinned, and pushed herself up to her feet. "Going to take the puppy out now. See you later."

Angelo nodded and grinned, getting up to warm down. "Might see you out there in a bit, if you stay out long enough."

"That is if he hasn't dragged me off into the woods again. He's taken to chasing squirrels when we go out." She pushed the door open with her hip, and let the door slide closed behind her as she left.
