Now I lay me down to sleep
Sep. 29th, 2004 11:42 pmLate Wednesday night. Alex and Lorna discuss college, flirts, bets, bad 80s movies and why they love each other before falling asleep. Yes, it’s just as fluffy as it sounds. Even a fire alarm could not stop the cute that is this log. You have been warned.
Lorna lay on her stomach, hanging off the edge of her bed, reading from the textbook lying open on the floor. Her bare feet kicked idly in the air and she chewed on the end of her pen. The stereo was playing something classical, liquid and moving.
Alex came walking in dressed in his sweats, his hair still slightly wet from a shower. He yawned idly as he walked over and stood next to the bed where she was reading, bending down to see what was so interesting. "Having fun?"
“Mmm, plate tectonics.” She rolled over and grinned at him, “Fascinating.” She sat up and wrapped her arms around his waist, yanking him down next to her. “You’d love this class.” She kissed him before bending down to get her book.
He grinned as he was pulled onto the bed. "Oh I'm sure. You know Scott's taking me to see University of Hawaii soon. You should come with us." He moved to the other side of her so he wasn't in the way and lay on his side, his head resting on his hand, waiting for her response.
She raised an eyebrow at him as she packed her school stuff away, “You sure you don’t want that to be a Summers brothers trip? Wouldn’t want the girl to get in the way.” She didn’t sound like she didn’t want to go, just that it would be intruding.
"Well I thought the plan was for you transfer your credits there. Don't you want to see what you’re getting into?" He raised an eyebrow with a smirk.
She hopped off the bed and dropped the backpack in the corner then circled around to her dresser and tugged out some pajamas, “Of course, I just don’t want to interrupt brother time.”
Alex shrugged. "Well it is Scott's vacation...you don't mind?" He gave her the classic puppy dog eyes.
She smiled, “Not in the least.” She shrugged out of her shirt and into a white cotton camisole. “You two have years to catch up on. You can spare me the eyes.”
Oh the eyes were gone the moment she started changing. they had turned into a very happy boyfriend with a great view of his beautiful girlfriend. "Lorna, can I ask you an odd question?"
“Sure.” She continued changing without any self-consciousness—her self-esteem still needed work but not when it came to Alex. “But I reserve the right to give odd answers to odd questions.”
"Fair enough." Now he rolled onto his stomach, his head resting on both hands now as he continued to watch her, whistling softly. "Do you think Haroun is a flirt, and more, did he flirt with you?"
Lorna blinked at him and laughed, “Yes, Haroun is a flirt, and yes he flirts with me. Why?” She sat on the edge of the bed to kick off her jeans, twisting so she could look at Alex.
Now he rolled over onto his back, his head hanging over the edge as he looked up at her, his nose wrinkled a bit at the thought of Haroun flirting with *his* girlfriend.. "I don't think I'm supposed to be telling you this but the kids have opened a book on who he's going to end up with. I have five on Alison right now."
Lorna wrinkled her nose back at him, tracking his thoughts, “Flirts do that. He’s perfectly aware that I’m madly in love with my boyfriend.” She gave his news some thought while she finished changing and tossed her clothes in the hamper, “Only five?” she said at last, “What odds is Kitty offering?”
Alex nodded with satisfaction at the first, a grin on his face. "Good." Then he paused to remember. "4 to 1 odds on Alison and 5 to 2 on Dr Barlett."
“Hmm,” Lorna settled back on the bed, stretching out then tucking her arm behind her head, “Maddie, huh? I don’t see it. Do me a favour and put $20 on Ali for me? I’m going with roomie loyalty for this one.”
Alex adjusted so his head was on her stomach. "Alright but I'm guessing you don't think the Sam thing is gonna happen huh?"
Lorna reached down to play with his hair, “I may be slightly biased against Sam considering how miserable she was when they broke up. I like Haroun. He’s a nice guy and he’s never hurt her.” She frowned, “I think if Sam was really serious, Haroun would have his work cut out for him.”
Closing his eyes, he smiled happily. He liked the feeling of her hands in his hair. "Oh he definitely would. Alison and Sam always reminded me of well...us. Cute but with issues.”
“We’re much cuter.” Lorna said decisively. “Because you’re cuter than Sam.”
Now Alex rolled over onto his hands and knees so his face hovered over Lorna's. "And you are much more beautiful then Alison. I definitely prefer green over blonde." He winked before leaning down to kiss her.
Lorna kissed him back enthusiastically, giggling softly. She ran her hands over his shoulders and down to his waist and tickled him. “I was thinking the accent was the hot part.”
Alex let out a very unmanly squeak and fell onto the bed next to her. "and my surfer talk isn't? I thought you liked it?" He tried to sound offended but failed miserably.
“The Valley talk and the surfer talk. We’re such a match made in a bad 80s film.” She rolled over on top of him and grinned, making herself comfortable. “I think the surfer accent is very very very cute.” She gave him a kiss for each ‘very’, smiling fondly at him.
"A regular Breakfast Club" He mumbled through the kisses, before staring up at her, realizing once again how much he loved this woman. "Or something else eighties as long as we get away from the Ninja Turtle thing. That was embarrassing..." He shuddered at the memory of when all the little kids decided he talked like Michelangelo.
“Was there a surfer in the Breakfast Club? Weren’t they in Illinois? I was thinking, like, Heathers or something.” She kissed him again, deciding she rather liked this way of punctuating her sentences. “Not the Ninja Turtles. That was New York. We’re definitely not Ninja Turtles. I’d have to be April and I’d look terrible in a yellow jumpsuit. I love you.” It was a matter-of-fact as the rest. For her it was like breathing, just something that was.
He shrugged. "First 80s movie I could think of honestly. And please, no Ninja Turtles. The Michelangelo analogy still haunts me. " Alex in fact rather liked the improved punctuation and decided to contribute. "Plus yellow would clash with your hair and you know how much I love that...I love you."
“Definitely no mutant turtles. Besides they got their terminology wrong. The turtles were mutates not mutants.” She kissed him and grinned, “We should know.” She kissed him again, slow and lingering this time, totally distracted from her train of thought.
Alex didn't even bother to answer; he just continued to kiss his girlfriend, which was much more pleasant then talking about reptile mutant wannabes.
Lorna eased back to look at Alex, brushing at his face with her fingertips. With a contented sigh, she resettled herself, shifting above him until she was curled around him. “You’re sleeping better.” She brushed over his eyes, noting that he was looking more rested.
"No nightmares definitely helps. I have this wonderful cure for them now..." He grinned as he leaned over and kissed her forehead. "Thank you for making me feel safe..." His tone soft and serious now.
“I’m glad that you feel safe with me.” She smiled, her voice equally soft, warm with affection. “I couldn’t ask anything more.”
Alex closed his eyes as he held her close, breathing, "Love you" before he drifted off to sleep.
“Sleep well, love,” she murmured before falling asleep herself.
