She drags him outside and away from the journals, and they talk and settle some things. In a tree.

There was a playful giggling noise outside Angelo's door and down the hall, followed by what sounded like someone cheerfully belting out, "I love egg!" Now, Angelo had just finished clicking, as Paige had instructed him to do, and still had a small remnant of a look of horror on his face, but it also meant that he knew it could really only be one person. Standing, he went to open the door, before it was flung open before, missing his nose by inches.

"Oh, good!" Paige said with a chipper tone. "You're dressed and wearing shoes. Get your coat, we're going outside." Her own jacket was draped over her arm, as was a light scarf and pair of mittens, strung through her jacket arms with a piece of yarn. Only Paige would have childproof mittens for no apparent reason.

Angelo blinked, shooting a bemused glance back at the dancing eggs that could still be seen on his monitor, before replying warily, "Uh. Okay... what are we goin' to do?"

Paige rolled her eyes, moving into the room to pull his jacket off the back of his door and toss it to him. "Go outside. I just said that," she answered, being purposely fickle. She wrapped her scarf around her neck as she made her way out the door again, and down the hall, calling back, "Come on!"

Angelo grabbed his coat and followed her, a glance reassuring him that Joyita was fast asleep on the bed and likely to stay that way.

It was a short trip downstairs and out the back door. Autumn was just beginning, but it was definitely settling in fast; the leaves were all in golds and the sky a bright, cloudless blue. Paige took Angelo's hand as they made their way down the steps, smiling. "I love this season."

Angelo twined his fingers through hers instinctively, as best he could through the mitten. "Yeah, me too. It's really pretty out here like this."

Paige looked down at their hands and laughed, removing her hand from his for a moment to pull off one mitt, letting it dangle by its string, before taking his again. "This means you'll have to keep me warm, you know. If I catch a cold, you have to deal with me, and I don't do sick very well."

Angelo smiled, twining their fingers properly this time. "You keep tellin' me you don't get sick - but I'll be happy t'keep you warm anyway."

"I don't get sick because I won't get sick. Funny how my mutation made sure I also can't get sick, or at least, not easily," Paige answered, leading him down the path. She didn't really need all these extra layers anyway, it was so nice outside, and was glad she'd kept her jacket open.

Angelo was happy to follow her wherever she'd decided they needed to go. "So, you gonna tell me where we're headed?" he asked lightly.

Paige mock pondered that for a moment, holding her chin and looking skywards. "Mm... nope!" she said, grinning at him. "But I'll give you a hint." Lifting up both their hands, she pointed them in the general direction of one of the larger trees.

He laughed a little as they headed towards the trees. "Fair enough. Surprises are good."

Winding them around the dense forest, Paige finally made it to the base of the tree, looking skywards. It would do just fine. The leaves had already made it to orange as well as yellow here, and there were a few red ones scattered on the lawn. Whoever had planted this tree had wanted it to be special; the rest of the trees surrounding it were spaced out a little farther, letting the sky peek through. "Now. Would you like to give me a boost up?"

He blinked. "Uh. Sure. You're gonna climb the tree?"

"Yes. And then you're going to use your nifty skin stretchy powers to follow me up," Paige informed him brightly, lifting her leg at the knee and waiting.

Angelo couldn't help a grin, as he hoisted her easily onto the branch she was pointing to. He waited for her to be securely there before following.

Paige climbed up to the next branch; a thicker and more secure one, before grabbing Angelo's hand and pulling him up with her. She rested her back against the trunk, letting one leg dangle down, the other propped up with a bent knee. Drawing him against her chest, Paige pressed a kiss to his ear and wrapped her arms around him, clasped hands resting comfortably on the coolness of his jacket zipper. "There."

Angelo settled against her, resting comfortably in her arms and letting himself relax as much as he could. "Thank you."

"Mm..." Paige hummed into his shoulder as way of reply. With her eyes half closed like this, the world swirled into a myriad of different colours. "I love you."

He reached up a hand to stroke her hair absently, finding it soothing for himself as much as her. "I love you too."

"Good. Glad we got that that settled," Paige said in a final tone before letting silence overlap them.

He turned his head to look at her, oddly amused. "That... was my reminder, wasn't it?"

"Maybe," Paige answered, almost non-committal.

"I wasn't gonna go anywhere", he answered quietly. "Well, probably not. Would've remembered why I keep tryin', sooner or later - just needed remindin'."

"I wasn't worried about that." Paige shifted, pulling him closer to her by draping a leg across his. This was feeling very Pretty Woman all of a sudden. "Maybe I was worried that your response wasn't along the lines of, 'Well, maybe not hundreds of people, but I can think of one, and that's enough for me.' and instead cursing, which never works with Illyana by the way. But I'm just biased."

He moved closer without complaint - quite the opposite. "I didn't say nobody'd be better off - just not many people. An' most of the time, that is enough. Chalk it up to her sayin' the exact wrong thing when I was havin' a bad day?" With a faint sigh, he added, "Paige... you are why I keep tryin'. You're the main reason I didn't cut out of here a long time ago - Amanda an' some others now, too, but the first few times I wanted to, it was you kept me here."

Paige smiled lovingly, kissing his neck. "There's my boy with the right answer." That's all she'd needed to hear, to clear things up in her head.

Angelo shifted a little further into her arms, enjoying the closeness. "Just still have days, y'know? This hasn't been a good one."

"Shush your pretty mouth and watch the leaves with me, pup," Paige replied calmly, resting her chin on his shoulder with a content sigh. "It's a beautiful day."

Angelo nodded, saying simply, "That it is", before falling silent, content to just sit with her.

Only Paige would have childproof mittens for no apparent reason.

Jay always knew that he had special siblings. It'd sure explain why they all rode the short bus to school every morning.
