Wednesday, late evening. Alison & Kurt go out on their monthly dance outing, and indulge in a little bit of theatrics. That's what happens when two showbiz people decide to have fun.

The brief comment from the overly skinny man she was with drew a strident giggle which ended in an odd honking sound.

The couple which had just entered the club drew more than a few stares. They were not, to say the least, the most handsome of people - her skin was sallow and one wondered how the bottle-bottom thick glasses actually stayed perched on her nose. The brief comment from the overly skinny man she was with drew a strident giggle which ended in an odd honking sound.

The man himself was no oil painting.  As well as being too skinny, he possessed a striking set of buck teeth, and whoever had last cut his hair had obviously been the proud owner of a pudding bowl.  His hair was none too neat, either.

They made their way to the edge of the dance floor following a meandering path, the woman tripping over her own shoes more than once, taking the man with her as she threw them off balance each time. There was a definite pained look on the live band members faces as they tracked the couple's progress through the crowd. Pausing right at the edge of the crowd, Alison leaned against Kurt, still giggling under her breath, a far more normal and pleasant sound this time though she was doing her best to hide it. "Stumble through the first minute or so, pick up and then blow their minds away?" she whispered, trying to catch her breath before they went on to the actual dancing.

Kurt grinned at her and replied under his breath, "I think so.  It is always so much fun to watch their faces."

A low chuckle which some might have thought had a somewhat sinister overtone escaped her, but without further comment she dragged him on the dance floor, snickering at the further tripping and arm wind-milling this generated. Oh, doing things like these when  you had a circus performer and a stage performer? Such fun, it was!

Alison added a stumble to her own progress as they narrowly avoided a couple twirling by, a faint mutter of irritation left in their wake for the two conspirators. Striking up an awkward pose, Alison waited for Kurt to take her hand, purposefully shifting in and out of a somewhat off center position just to hear more grumbles from around them.

Kurt reached for her hand, the beginning of their usual routine when they were playing this game. He made his movements as deliberately clumsy as Alison's were, anticipating the reaction to the end of the ruse.

It was a thing of beauty, really - the first basic rhythm was easy to mess up, both of them simply starting off on the same foot instead of opposing, smashing into each other neatly. The effect seemed far more catastrophic than it actually was. And of course, they had to both reverse the move at the same time, smashing into each other once more.

Kurt would never fail to be amused by how easy it was to dance deliberately badly, as he and Alison "narrowly avoided" both ending up on the floor as a result of tripping over each other's feet.

They clung to each other for a moment, Alison desperately keeping to the honking laugh of her persona somehow, a passing couple's hissed 'get off the dance floor if you can't dance' order easily ignored. The band shifted the music to a higher speed, and Alison pulled back, giving Kurt a wide grin. That was their cue.

As the band spun into the full speed of the swing tune, the two joined hands, Alison snapping back while pivoting neatly on the ball of her foot, the lines of her body suddenly clean and following the motions perfectly as they both prepared to up the beat to a triple pattern. "Let's dance," she purred into the pause, the two of them leaping into the more complex swing routines they favored instantly.

Kurt also dropped the act, going back to his own natural (and circus-raised) grace as they danced.  He knew the routine well enough by now to spare at least half his attention for the people around them, and was not disappointed.  It never failed to get a reaction - and it usually involved the rest of the dance floor's occupants stopping dead to watch them.

With a wide grin and another of those ringing, honking laughs throw in just for effect, Alison flowed into the motions, the typical swing moves only enhanced as both dancers added their own style to the steps, daring each other to go further with each passing moment. This would be, they both knew, a very entertaining evening.
