It being a rainy day, Kurt had chosen to stay inside, heading for the gym to get in a little trapeze practise. Anyone who was likely to be looking for him would come here second, at the very least, after his suite.
Monet, being up until today blissfully ignorant of Kurt's habits, had not come here second. She had not been terribly happy to begin with, having her mother gently 'suggest' that as well as the heavy academic study program her father insisted on, she should also do some extracuricular activity like, say, dancing. While not as forceful as her father, her mother's word was also law. So, after wandering around the mansion for considerable too long, she made it to the gym. Looking up at the trapeeze set, she sighed heavily. Nothing was ever ~easy~.
Kurt, concentrating on what he was doing, didn't notice she was there at first. That was, until she flew up to where he was hanging upside down from the trapeze, and startled him so badly he almost let go.
"Excuse me, Mr Wagner," Monet asked the man now hanging by one foot and his tail, keeping polite pace with the swing, "do you have a moment?"
He pulled himself back up into a more comfortable position on the swing before answering, with a smile that was only slightly strained. "Of course, Monet. What can I do for you?"
"You see, my mother has suggested that I take dancing as an extracuricular class, for, y'know, grace and stuff. So I was going to ask you if you could give me lessons." She looked hopeful as she added, "If you don't have time, that's fine too! It's not that important."
Kurt looked amused. "What did your mother have in mind? For you to join the main dance class, or individual tutoring?"
Monet, on the other hand, looked slightly horrified by both prospects. "Um. When's your main class?" She decided that sometimes being a dutiful daughter was more painful that it was worth. She couldn't think of many people here she particularly wanted to dance with.
"Wednesdays and Thursdays", he informed her. "But I am sure I could set time aside for an individual class, if you prefer."
Monet sighed. "I guess with the class is fine," she said finally. "It's not during other classes, is it?"
Kurt shook his head. "I do not believe so. If you find you have a clash, something can probably be arranged."
"That's great," Monet said, in a tone that said anything but. "Is there anything I need to get or, I dunno, do before class?"
"Comfortable shoes and clothes that you can exercise in, if you do not already have them. There is nothing you need to do."
Monet nodded, and drifted back towards the ground. She was halfway there when she stopped. "Why are you on the trapeeze?"
He smiled. "I enjoy it. It reminds me of home, and I like to keep up my skills."
Her head tilted in thought, Monet continued dropping towards the ground. "See, I don't know if I would be homesick for a place that made money off my freaky looks, even if they did pretend I was normal," she said, shrugging. "But I guess that it was fun for you."
Kurt shrugged. "It was not like that, not really. They were my family. And my physical mutations... were simply an extra attraction. They would have been nothing, in my particular field, without skill."
Reaching the ground, Monet smiled. "I guess so. I'm glad they didn't give you those scars to make you look more exotic, then. Because that's just sorta sick, from your family. Being born with them is, y'know, creepy but not sick." She nodded quickly into his lack of reply. "See you Wednesday."
