Angelo goes in search of caffeine and sugar. Kitty provides coffee and cake. They fail to talk about anything important.
In the first break between classes, a tired-looking Angelo made his way to the kitchen in search of some caffeine or sugar or anything that would keep him awake and alert for a while longer. Even if someone had missed his most recent post, it was hard to miss the dark circles under his eyes betraying just how little he'd slept over the weekend.
It wasn't hunger that had driven Kitty to the kitchen this time, neither hers nor the dragon's, for Lockheed's insistant demands for constant food were starting to taper off. She was there, really, because there wasn't anywhere else to be. And besides, Lorna had a point - cooking and making things for other people was an excellent distraction. So when Angelo walked in she looked up and smiled softly. "Hey," Kitty said. "What's up? Can I get you anything?"
Angelo returned the smile, if a little warily - they hadn't really spoken since the demon attack and the blow-up that had followed it, but she seemed fine with him now so he'd go with that.
"Um. If you want... somethin' to keep me awake for a few hours more?"
It wasn't that Kitty had forgotten, it was just that with 'Yana out of the med lab people who attacked her stopped being Public Enemy number one. Now, if they were yelling at Doug on the journals (as opposed to in private where he could quasi-fight back for himself) it would be a different matter, and if things got out of hand again she'd just have to see. But for now... Well, for now they were all hurting, and they might as well hurt together.
"That's doable. Coffee or tea? Black or regular? Do you want cake with that, or something with real protien to last past the sugar and caffiene crash." She wasn't even offering to do all that much, since Lorna had been cooking herself and the fridge was quite well stocked.
"Coffee an' cake sounds good, thanks", he answered with sincere gratitude. "Paige'd give me the Look if she knew about it, but eh. Once won't kill me."
"Nope," Kitty agreed. "More than once wouldn't even kill you either, but I won't tell Paige about this, anyway." A quick touch proved that the coffee in the pot was still warm, which meant it was probably also moving in towards scary strong, too, and that was probably good. Pouring out a cup she said, "Milk or sugar? And do you want the cake warmed up?"
"Sugar, no milk", he requested. "An' the other depends on what kind of cake it is, I guess."
"Looked like chocolate fudge to me," Kitty told him as she doctored his cup and then brought it over to him, along with the sugar bowl in case he decided she hadn't given him enough before heading over to the fridge. Retrieving the cake she quickly cut him a reasonably sized piece and set it on the plate. "What do you think? To heat or not to heat?"
"Not to heat, I think", he decided. "Otherwise it just melts an' gets everywhere."
"Ok, then, here you are." She set the plate and a fork down in front of Angelo, then went back to tidying up. She'd already liquid-plumer'd the drain and was thinking about pulling out the windex to have at the windows, since Lorna kept the whole kitchen far too clean for her to keep herself busy this way.
Angelo dug into his cake for a few minutes before the quiet started to get to him, and he looked up. "So... how've you been holdin' up?"
"Reasonably well," Kitty said, shrugging. "At least I have a lot of stuff to do."
Angelo nodded, looking down again. "Yeah, I can see how that'd help." If not with the sleep...
"Mm-hm," Kitty said, continuing to fuss about the kitchen.
Angelo, at a loss for what to say next, finally shrugged slightly and went back to his cake and coffee. It was pretty clear neither of them was in the mood for conversation... at least that meant they wouldn't end up fighting.
