On his way down to the kitchen and conversation with Rahne, Nathan runs into Kurt on the stairs, and they talk about Foley.
As it was starting to get dark - and therefore cold - Kurt made his way inside from the woods, and up to the staff floor. As he walked up the stairs, he realized someone was approaching them from the top, and looked up. "Hello, Nathan."
"Kurt," Nathan greeted quietly, pausing on the stairs to nod to the other man. "You're up late."
"I have been outside. It is... quiet, there", Kurt answered with a slightly wry smile.
"It seems pretty quiet in here right now," Nathan pointed out with a faint smile. "For once..."
Kurt nodded. "This is true. But I like the trees. Being high up..."
Nathan leaned back against the bannister. "Thanks for what you said about Mick," he said, lowering his voice even further. "I... really appreciated it."
Kurt shrugged. "It was nothing but the truth. You have brought your friend here in need of help, and he will get it."
"That's good to know," Nathan murmured. "After the reaction to LeBeau... one of the reasons I asked for such secrecy."
Kurt looked at him calmly. "Foley has not harmed anyone in this house - or at least, is not known to have done so, by the general population. And it was not known, at the time of that reaction, that LeBeau was not in control of his actions."
"For all I know this'll backfire," Nathan said with a sigh. "Keeping it from them..." He shrugged, almost apathetically. "He's a little more important to me than their sensibilities at the moment."
"As he should be, just now. You are not keeping anything from them that would put them in danger."
"I think. Don't know for sure." Nathan smiled very faintly. "We never know for sure."
"But it is more likely than not that he is harmless to all but himself", Kurt stated with confidence. "I do not believe you would have lied to us, Nathan, even in his name."
"I wouldn't have lied, Kurt. I've just been known to be wrong before."
Kurt nodded. "We all have. Still, though, I for one will trust your judgment here."
"Thank you," Nathan said with a ghost of a smile, starting back down the stairs. "Again."
"If you need help with him, you have only to ask", Kurt called after him. "If it is to take a turn watching him, though I am a stranger, or... anything."
Nathan nodded, and went on his way.
