After Alex's conversation with Shiro about moving out, he goes and talks to Lorna, where he confesses about the 'kiss'. Then after angsty for a bit, they are cute as always. Also I am showing of my new shiny paid account thanks to the lovely Silensy.
Opening and closing the door quietly to match his mood, Alex walked over to the bed and flopped down on it, burrowing his head in a pillow. He groaned loudly, as he rethought the conversation with Shiro through in his head. Why hadn't it just gone simply like he thought it would?
“Alex?” Lorna paused in the middle of cleaning the coffee filter and wandered into the bedroom. She stood in the doorway for a moment, taking in the sight of Alex trying to feed his head to the pillow. Crossing over she sat down beside him and rested her hand on his shoulder. “What’s up, love?”
"I just talked to Shiro and it did not go well!" He said it first into the pillow, then after realizing it was muffled, he lifted his head and said it again. "I know he's not happy about it but he won't show it. He says I should move in with you, but I know that it's not what he wants...gah, I don't know!" Alex looked over his shoulder at Lorna, a helpless look on his face.
Lorna shifted further onto the bed as she thought, crossing her legs Indian style. “What do you think?” she asked finally. “Is he going to be really upset if you move in with me?” She tried to keep her voice and expression fairly neutral.
Alex rolled over onto his back so he could look at her. "I...I don't know. I mean, I know he'd support me in whatever I did, but he won't admit to me if I hurt him or not by doing it." Alex bit his bottom lip and looked up at the ceiling. "And frankly...that's not all. He thinks it's because of something that meant nothing!"
“Something that meant nothing,” she repeated and shook her head, “Care to clear that up, hon? If it’s affecting how he feels then it’s not nothing.”
He kept his eyes on ceiling as he sighed heavily. "While you and I were fighting, I was feeling really down. The first night I spent in my room after sleeping with Scott, Shiro wanted to cheer me up. Neither of us knew what to do so he umm..." Alex mumbled, "kissed me."
Lorna had been adjusting her position. Alex’s confession threw her entirely and she nearly took a tumble off the bed. She grabbed for an anchor and wound up clinging to his knees. “Whoa, wait, what?” she asked, wondering if her brain had just confused something.
Finally Alex moved his gaze to her. "He kissed me. But it's not what you think! He wanted to show me that he wouldn't ever leave me and he didn't know any other way to express it." His voice edged on panic as he sat up. "I told him I understood, but he still feels ashamed over it." Now he hung his head. "Even though I reassured him, I think he still thinks I'm moving out because of it."
Lorna released Alex’s knees and moved her arms around his shoulders. “Alex, love, calm down. I’m not upset.” Well, maybe a little upset but well, Brent and people in glass houses and all that. “What do you think you should do? You’ve talked to him, is this something that you think he’ll be able to handle?”
Alex sighed heavily again, leaned his head against her shoulder. "Honestly...I don't know. I'm so confused. I want this so badly but I know I would die if I lost him. I know me wanting to go back to Hawaii is hurting him enough already..."
She slid one hand to the nape of his neck and ran her fingers through his hair. “You need to pick what’s best for you, love. I’ll understand whatever you pick. Shiro won’t leave you. He’s too good a friend for that.” He’d better not, at least, she thought and made a mental note to have a chat with Shiro whatever Alex’s decision.
"I need to do this. I just know it's my next step in getting over what happened. I need to be close to you..." Alex finally moved his head back so he could look up at her, sighing again. "I know he's too good a friend to leave me but I still don't want to hurt him."
She kissed him, secretly relieved to have him say it. “It’ll be okay, love. He’ll see soon enough that you aren’t leaving him just because you’re moving here. We’re all going to have to adjust.”
"I know, just wish it was easier. " He cuddled close to her. "But I guess you’re right, there will be more adjusting then I thought." He laid down again and pulled Lorna down with him. "I love you."
“I love you too. Of course I’m right. I’m always right, didn’t you get the memo?” She went willingly, rearranging herself so she could rest her head on his shoulder.
"Nope must have missed that one." He kidded as he held her, one hand playing in her hair. "And what do you think about this whole thing? Me moving in and all?"
She pushed herself up so she could look at him, “I’m excited. A little nervous too. This is all new to me. My former boyfriends have never even spent the night before let alone move in.” Her smile was a bit sheepish. “I wasn’t expecting it. I kind of wondered if you…” she stopped as she realized she was blushing and buried her head in his shoulder.
He frowned slightly when he heard about former boyfriends but then he gave her a questioning look with a curious smile. "Wondered if I what?"
“If you were interested in anything more. Because of what happened and…well, we just cuddle which is great and I love having you here and you don’t need to do anything more to make me happy.” She shut her mouth with an audible click, cutting off the babbling. She was probably glowing from blushing so hard. Why was actually talking to him such a problem?
Alex bit his lip. "Lorna...I am. Really. I'm just working my way up to it. I..." He took a deep breath thinking of what he wanted to say. "I know it's taking me a while, but I just need time. I promise, it will be soon." He moved a piece of green hair behind her ear and kissed her gently. "Promise."
She kissed him back and there was a little bit of desperation behind it. “I don’t want to push you. I…just let me know when you’re up for more okay? I’ll take my cue from you.” She kissed him again, “There’s no rush. We’ve got time.”
"Don't wanna push huh?" He grinned as he returned the kiss, sensing the desperation. Laughing, he squeezed her shoulders. "I'm thinking the sooner the better huh?"
“As soon as you’re ready,” she said stubbornly, determined to stick to it if it killed her. “I can wait. The shower water can get plenty cold.” She kissed him again, stroking her fingers through his hair.
Alex gave her a confused look that matched his blonde hair. "Shower water?"
She laughed, “For cold showers?”
He blinked at her confused then it dawned on him. "Oh!" With an embarrassed laugh, he kissed her quickly. "Sorry guess I'm still getting used to have that effect on someone."
“I can’t believe that. All those years hanging out half dressed on a beach…you probably sent lots of girls home with crushed spirits if you didn’t notice their drooling.” She grinned at him and snuggled closer.
"Yes but I didn't care about them. Then it was fun to make them gawk. Now I worry about having to warm you up after said cold showers...enough so you don't have to take another one." He wrinkled his nose as he laughed, wiggling to get comfy.
“Warming me up is what leads to the showers, silly. I’ll survive a little cold water.” Not that she wasn’t very much enjoying his wriggling while he got comfortable. “You going to sleep, love?”
"Was planning on it. Why, have a better idea?" He raised an eyebrow playfully.
“Mmm, not pushing.” But she kissed him again. “I need to change for bed.”
"Go right ahead darling, I'll watch if you like?" Alex asked happily, grinning at her.
“If I like, huh?” She giggled and squirmed away to get up. “I like,” she bent and kissed him lightly, “what makes you happy.”
"Watching my beautiful girlfriend change into her night clothes? That would definitely make me happy..."
“Well get comfortable then, love.” She grinned and crossed to her dresser, tugging out a pale blue tank top and shorts in a slightly darker blue. She tossed them on the bed and pulled her sweater over her head. She gave him a wicked little grin and tossed it to him before shrugging into the tank top.
He laughed as he moved his hands in front of his face to catch the sweater. His eyes looked over her admiringly as she changed into her shorts. After tossing the sweater aside, Alex took Lorna into his arms. "You're beautiful you know that? Absolutely beautiful."
“When you look at me, I am.” She wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed greedily against him to take advantage of his body heat. “That’s good enough for me.”
He hugged her close, kissing the top of her head. "Then I guess you don't mind me saying I love you."
“Not while I’m still in my right mind,” she replied. She nudged him back onto the bed again and arranged herself happily in his lap. “Not while I love you just as much.”
"Come on, let's go to bed before I lose you to the shower." Quickly pulling the covers over them, he moved so they were both comfortable. Kissing her temple lightly, he closed his eyes. "I love you. G'night."
She giggled. “Good night, love.”
Opening and closing the door quietly to match his mood, Alex walked over to the bed and flopped down on it, burrowing his head in a pillow. He groaned loudly, as he rethought the conversation with Shiro through in his head. Why hadn't it just gone simply like he thought it would?
