Kurt returns to his room and collapses on the couch. Miles finds him there, they talk, and Miles sits with him until he goes to sleep, then disappears to the music room for the log with Nathan.

Kurt had just returned from Madelyn's room, teleporting directly into the common room of his suite, and had discovered on reaching it that he somehow couldn't work up the energy to make it all the way into the bedroom. Three or four days with little sleep except on the little green pills might have had something to do with that - and while he'd slept a little while he was there, it had been fitful and broken. So he'd just dropped, exhausted, onto the couch and stayed there. He'd get up and move. Soon.

The door had been left open behind him and Miles was fairly sure that after knocking twice, peeking in wasn't going to be the worse thing he'd ever done. Kurt was barely visible in the shadows of the common suite and it tooks Miles a fair bit of looking to realize that yes, there was actually someone on the couch - Kurt's neat fade into the shadows trick was very cool. Miles had been told that Alison's power wasn't going on as badly as before, enough that people could start going in the room now. Just the medlab people, but... that was a good thing anyway, he kept telling himself. A very good thing.

He'd come here to check on Haroun (someone had to while Alison was in the medlab) and since there was no Haroun (that would be taken care of later, that was all) and a very immediate Kurt, maybe Miles should check on him first. Tiptoeing near was far too easy and soon Miles was peering at Kurt from a few feet away.

It took Kurt a few moments to realize there was someone there, and he raised his head wearily and focused, peering back at the boy. "...Hello, Miles."

Oh my. Kurt was really looking tired. It had taken him way too long to recognize Miles for one, and it wasn't as though Miles was very hard to recognize. The green was kinda of a dead giveaway. "Miles thinks Kurt looks terrible," the little boy remarked candidly, head tilting to the side slowly. There had been news about Alison which didn't involve saying 'We still don't know' and that was a Good Thing. Hank used a lot of long words, but if you gave him a certain Look he stopped and explained better each time and he'd explained a lot to Miles just now.

Kurt grinned wryly, patting the empty space on the sofa with a questioning look. "Kurt has not been sleeping as much as he perhaps should have been", he answered, not-quite-consciously mimicking Miles' way of speaking in the third person.

Miles didn't waste any time, settling on the couch cross legged, looking at Kurt with a pensive expression. "Then Kurt should get some sleep now." It seemed, to him at least, an obvious solution. He had been sleeping when he was tired, even if he had been scared of what might change when he woke up before (and still was, a little bit).

Kurt laughed a little, but not unkindly. "I have tried, Miles, but it does not always work as well as I might hope. Everyone is... very worried, at the moment."

"Miles knows." It was the only reminder that if anything, Miles had just as much reason to be worried, if not more. "Miles worries that Mama might not be ok ever and that they might try to take him again and - Miles thinks Miles has said too much." He hadn't meant to put quite that look on Kurt's face. Erk.

Kurt hastily forced his expression to blankness again, trying to hide the pain mixed with anger in his eyes, and reached for the boy. "Your Mama is in the best hands, Miles, and they are doing everything they can to see that she will be well again. And as for the other... they will not come here for you. They would not dare."

Miles knew that, too. It was just hard to not worry anyway, even if all the adults still had that angry look about them that meant someone would get in trouble if they tried anything. Scrambling closer to Kurt without any arguments at all, Miles sighed. "Moira explained a little." And Hank had explained a lot. "Miles understands what is happening." And like everyone else, he was finding it hard to not be able to do anything to help.

Kurt moved slightly to wrap his arms around the boy, in comfort for them both. "I am glad. You deserve to know, I think." He sighed slightly as Miles nestled in. "And how have you been, Miles? You yourself."

"Miles has been better. Miles cannot complain." It was a very literal answer. He took his time answering too, drawing out the moment - Kurt's eyes were slowly closing again meaning this would actually be an easy one.

Kurt was, indeed, finding he was having trouble keeping his eyes open, try as he might. He stifled a yawn as he answered, "Well... things will be better again, Miles. They will."

Everyone kept saying that and Miles knew it was just that they were hoping things would be better again, just as much as he did. Not even being a big person meant you could make everything be perfect again. "Miles knows." He spoke in hushed tones, observing Kurt quietly.

Kurt was drifting further and further into sleep, despite his efforts, and he wasn't even bothering to open his eyes when they closed any more. Almost unconsciously, but still careful not to dislodge Miles, he pulled his legs up on to the couch, curling up around the boy.

Miles waited a moment, then another, as Kurt's breathing steadied out. There, that was very much sleeping and the couch was nice and comfortable so now Miles could go. Hrm. Being stuck on the couch was problematic, though. After a few careful wriggles Miles managed to free himself, climbing on the back of the sofa and sliding down the back before sneaking out of the suite's common room.

Maybe he'd go down to the music room now.
