And then they are fluffy and schmoopy. Yes, that’s two ways to say aggressively adorable. Yes, we know that shocks you from these two. Try to cope.
Groaning with frustration as he buried his head in his arms. Sprawled out on Lorna's bed, feet kicking up in the air, Chemistry books spread around him, Alex determined he hated the subject with a firey passion. He'd just spent an hour doing problems where he had to draw a stupid structure for each and he couldn't take it anymore, but he was only half way through. Groaning again, Alex raised his head a little bit to read the next problem.
Lorna wandered into the bedroom, rubbing her temples and wondering if she had any aspirin in the medicine cabinet. Despite her headache, seeing Alex made her smile and she dropped her hands. Quietly she snuck up beside him and slipped her hands around his shoulders to steal away his book. “Whatcha doing, love?”
Alex was more then happy to see the book dissappear from his sight and turned onto his back so he could kiss his rescuer. "Nothing I couldn't be happy to be distracted from by a beautiful woman like yourself..."
“Mmm,” she agreed as she returned the kiss. She flopped on the bed next to him and threw an arm over her eyes. The chemistry book was quickly discarded over the side of the bed. She shifted slightly to fish another book out from under her spine and sent it to join its compatriot. “I don’t know how distracting I’ll be.”
Turning on his side and resting his head on his hand, Alex gave her a concerned look, after pushing everything Chemisty related off the bed, notebook and calculator included, and getting some odd pleasure out of it. "Oh, what's up sweetheart?"
“Nothing. Headache.” She uncovered her eyes and blinked up at him. She sighed. “Just talked to Jamie. To see how he was.” She’d asked Jamie if he would mind her sharing with Alex. She had been fretting about it since getting the first email and hated keeping things from Alex but now she was wondering if she should tell him at all.
Cocking his head to the side, he gave her a questioning glance. Something was wrong with Jamie and it had Lorna upset. Alex felt like he was missing something. "What's up with Jamie that's got you so worried?" He moved a piece of green hair behind her ear, using the excuse to caress her cheek.
Lorna sighed again and caught his hand in hers, lacing her fingers with his. “He’s been having…I don’t even know what to call them. Not nightmares…flashbacks maybe? Except they aren’t his memories, they’re Skippy’s. Back when they fought, Skippy absorbed Jamie and even though Jamie won he got all of Skippy’s memories.” She shivered and covered her eyes again with her free hand. “The Professor took them away or blocked them or something but now they’ve come back and he had to go back in and fix it so they’re all integrated now.”
Hearing all that made Alex frown as he had quite a bit of experience in the nightmare department. "Jamie was having Skippy's memories as nightmares? And now they are mixed with Jamie's own memories?" He tried to keep his tone even as he asked, wanting to make sure he got all this straight, but it was hard as it brought back memories of his own.
“Nightmares and…yeah, waking flashbacks too. He seems okay, but he remembers what happened to Skippy. Not all of it but…” She grimaced and her hand tightened on his. “I’m worried. After what you went through,” she bit her lip and moved her hand to look at him, realizing what she’d just said. “I’m sorry. It’s not the same.”
Closing his eyes sadly, Alex just shook his head. "No it's alright. In a way it is. Sometimes, the worst part of the nightmares wasn't the reminder of being raped, but the reminder of the feelings of being used. I can imagine the flashbacks from Skippy feel more of the same and no one should have to feel like that, especially someone who doesn't deserve too, like Jamie."
Lorna let out a breath she didn’t even realise she’d been holding. “Do you think…I don’t know, maybe you could talk to him? Sometimes just having someone who had been there helps.” Whether she meant for Jamie or Alex she didn’t know and wasn’t sure she didn’t mean both.
He opened his eyes and looked at the wall for a few long moments as if lost in thought. Then Alex sighed and looked down at her. "Yeah you’re right, it couldn't hurt. And I think I'm well enough along in my own healing to talk about it with people other then you, Scott and Shiro." A small smile appeared on his face as he nuzzled her neck. "And I don't have nightmares anymore, thanks to you."
She tilted her head back automatically. “I wish I could have taken them away sooner.” She smiled somewhat sadly and twisted so she could put her free arm around his waist.
"And I wish I'd told you about them sooner. Now enough of that talk." With his head still buried in her neck, he twisted his body around hers so they could cuddle properly. "I'll talk to him if he wants."
“Thank you, love.” She tangled herself up with him and kissed the top of his head, loving the feeling of his mouth on her throat. “I love you, you know? Just thought I should mention it.”
“Glad to be reminded, especially after a conversation like that." Alex said not moving from his position and went back to nuzzling her neck right after. After a few moments, he picked his head up and looked at her. "And I love you," he declared before kissing her.
It was quite some time before she was able to respond, breathing a bit hard as she did so, “Also nice to be reminded.” She smiled mischievously at him, “Should I let you get back to studying now?”
He gave her a look of pure terror. "Please no! I can't take the molecules anymore! They're frying my brain single handedly!" He buried his head in her neck again, using his mock fright as an excuse.
Well, she certainly wasn’t going to complain about that. “Poor darling,” she said, running her hands through his hair in a way that was only about half meant to be soothing and more than half about the reaction she got from it.
A low groan formed in the back of his throat and came out almost like a purr. She knew his hair was his weak spot and he melted in her embrace. "Mmm...that feels good.”
She coaxed his head back so she could kiss him, still stroking her nails down the nape of his neck. She pressed against him attempting to create absolutely no space between them whatsoever. “Anything to save you from the horrors of science.”
"My heroine." He muttered before they kissed again. He added to her efforts, rolling onto his back and pulling her on top of him.
Now her hands were trapped behind his head. Hmm. “Alex, love?” She flexed her fingers in the little bit of space she had. “Can’t move now.” Of course, the way their legs were tangled she could hardly move them either.
Alex responded with a playful grin and a cocked head. "And that's a problem?"
Lorna’s eyes widened, a sudden memory of Alison’s teasing flickering through her head. She blushed. “Oh. Um…well not really, I guess.” She ducked her head into his shoulder, knowing he was probably going to either ask or figure out why she’d just turned bright red.
He did blink at the sight and after he'd lifted his head to free her hands he asked, "You know, it's been ages since I've been able to make you blush. What did I do to deserve that?" His eyes lit up with curiosity even if his tone was slightly teasing.
She slid her hands to his shoulder where they wouldn’t contribute to any other bizarre ideas. “Couldn’t move. Alison said…oh lord, you’re going to make me say this, aren’t you?” She started to giggle.
He arched a curious eyebrow. "I do admit I'm curious..."
“Alison suggested that we might have less trouble if…oh god. Handcuffs.” She was talking into his shoulder by this point, still giggling. “She thought you might be more comfortable if you had control and yeah, handcuffs.”
Alex's brain was spinning with the very suggestion and while he was slightly horrified of Alison saying that, Lorna's giggles were contagious. "You’re kidding right?"
She shook her head. “I told her it was a bad idea and forgot about it but then you said and I remembered and yeah.” She managed to stop giggling and lifted her head to look at him. “Sorry.”
He lifted his head and kissed her. "Don't apologize for Alison putting dirty thinks in your head. Though I won't lie...the thought is very sexy."
Lorna’s jaw dropped. “Are you kidding?” She’d assumed...well, that was something to think about, “Seriously?”
He shrugged slightly, confused at her reaction. "I said the thought, though I won't guarantee it wouldn't freak me out in person. Restraint isn't exactly my thing and for good reason." Why was this conversation getting weird?
Lorna shook her head, trying to get over the whole thing, “This is too weird. We’re going to move on now, okay?”
Alex nodded. "Yes please."
“Where were we before we took a turn into bizarro world?” Lorna shifted idly, lifting her hand to play with Alex’s hair. “Oh, I remember.” She leaned down and kissed him. “I love you.”
He visibly relaxed now that the conversation had changed and Alex cupped her cheek in his hand. "Definitely prefer this topic of conversation," he mumbled before returning the kiss in kind.
She traced his features lightly, stroking her fingers along his cheek and jaw as she kissed him with a single minded intensity. There were times when she was surprised by how deeply in love she was. There were other times when the surprise was how easy it was to offer him everything. Even if he didn’t know it.
