After having camped out on Boiler Beach for the name of science, Madelyn finds out that too much sunlight does indeed = a very, very hyper Scott Summers. They then head off to the Danger Room to see just how charged-up his optic blasts actually are.

"Maddie, wake up." There was a hand shaking her shoulder lightly. "Maddie? You're going to be burnt to a crisp. I really think you should wake up." A pause. "Time to get up? Up and at 'em?"

"Administer 12 ccs of Jello, stat!" Madelyn exclaimed, before actually opening her eyes and realising that she was awake. And that she'd been sleeping in a deck chair and ow they weren't that comfortable after six hours. Pushing her wide-brimmed hat back off her face, she blinked up at Scott. "Oh good, you didn't spontaneously combust."

Scott grinned widely at her. "Of course I didn't combust," he said cheerfully. "Sunlight is my friend, Maddie. Does a body good and all that jazz."

"If this is what I'm like after a whole bag of donuts, I'm surprised no-one's killed me yet," Madelyn murmured, looking up at the grinning Scott. His glasses were glowing. That was perhaps a little disturbing, but the cheer was infectious. "Indeed it does. Your body, especially. Feeling good?"

Scott paused, getting a very thoughtful look. Almost comically so, as if he was having trouble focusing. "Very distinct pins and needles feeling going on here," he said after a moment, "and my eyes itch. There's this sensation of pressure in my head, but it's not painful."

"Then it's possibly time to get out of here and go blow something up? Madelyn suggested, struggling up out of the deckchair. Or attempting to - her butt had gone to sleep.

"Boom." Something slipped out. It sounded distressingly like a giggle, and Scott slapped a hand over his own mouth, regarding her mirthfully. "I could go for a boom," he said finally, lowering the hand and trying to sound suitably grave. He couldn't stop grinning, though. Especially given the way she was looking at him. "Big boom? I really ought to vent more, you know, or so everyone keeps telling me..."

Madelyn's lips twitched. Oh, her brain was truly evil and he didn't mean it like that and oh dear she was going to have a giggle fit of her own any minute... "Venting is good," she agreed in a strangled tone, avoiding the topic of Booms entirely. "Help me up and you can go play in the Danger Room. Or the quarry - I think Nathan and Cain have left some rocks for others."

Scott bounced to his feet, offering her his hand. "Have I mentioned that I really, really like your hat?" he asked. "It's so floppy. Very cute."

The giggles were getting perilously close to escaping. "No, but thank you," she said gravely, taking the offered hand and squeaking as he hauled her up with more exhuberance than care. The resulting collison nearly sent them both crashing to the sand.

"Whoa!" Scott said gleefully, steadying her. "Do we really have to leave?" he asked, looking up at the sunlamps. "I like it here. Very comfortable. Don't you think?"

"Any more light for you and I think you'll overdose on cheerfulness," she said, chuckling a little. "And that would be fun to watch, but that whole Oath frowns on inducing manic states in people for amusement."

Scott slung a companionable arm around her shoulder. "Ah, well," he said regretfully as they headed for the door. "At least you get to watch me blow stuff up, right?" He laughed. "Do you suppose that classes as some sort of display of masculinity?"

"Be still me beating heart," Madelyn said with a snicker. "Ah, Captain? I think you have this problem with your brain being missing."

"Oh, I think it's in there. It's just all... addled," Scott said firmly.

"Uh-huh. Lets go watch you be macho, hmm?"
