Backdated to last night. Sam arrives back at the mansion right in the middle of Paige and Catseye's hide-and-seek game. He spots Paige hiding and is confused, Catseye supplies Flying Cat Death From Above (trademark pending). There is some silliness, and even if Paige hasn't completely forgiven Sam, she at least offers a bit of an olive branch.

A contented sigh escaped Sam's lips as he stepped through the front door into the entryway. Jumbled feelings aside, it _did_ feel pretty good to be back. And Ma was right, it was time to stop hiding and running away from his feelings. Setting his bags on the floor, he looked around. He cocked his head confusedly at a suspiciously Paige-looking blue T-shirt that he could see a hint of behind one of the large chairs sitting along the side of the entryway. "Gee?" he asked hesitantly.

There was an alarmed squeak before Paige peeked her nose around the corner, eyes wide. "Shh!" she said anxiously, looking around. "You'll give away my position!" Paige and Catseye had been playing hide-and-seek with the littlebits for the better part of thirty minutes now, with Paige sneaking around the mansion in an orderly pattern whenever the purple cat girl got too close. In reality, Catseye was probably just leaving Paige for last, putting off the inevitable, but she didn't mind. It was fun anyway.

Said purple cat had been carefully creeping along on the railing of the stairwell, eyes fixed on the snippet of blonde hair she could see below, whiskers quivering in tension at everything they were picking up - the minute motions each time Paige checked to see if Catseye was near, the particular scent of newness that was unique to Paige and belonged to no one else in the mansion. The new person was noted but not taken into account just yet, since Catseye's intent was still very much to pounce on Paige, and not just a little bit at that.

"Your position?" Sam asked with a raised eyebrow, before realizing what Paige was referring to. He chuckled as he realized there must be a game of hide and seek going on. His well-trained tactical awareness noted the small purple form of Catseye sneaking along the railing, and he decided not to tell Paige. Her reaction ought to be pretty good.

“Yes, my-“ Paige stopped, looking up at her brother. She stared for a long moment, just staring, coming onto a sudden realization, before attempting to look around the chair, even though she already knew it was too late.

FLYING CAT DEATH FROM ABOVE! With a meow that was far too gleeful, Catseye lauched herself off the banister and straight at Paige, paws waving about rapidly in what was a classic 'make the prey know it's cornered and then some' blurred motion.

Over to the side, Sam was pretty well useless at the scene. His sister, trying to scramble across the floor frantically, and the purple blur of Catseye hitting her right between the shoulders with an emphatic yowl. Sam sat down heavily on the floor, giggling madly.

Paige managed just in time to put her hands out and carefully roll, mindful of the cat that was in fact stuck to her back. Giggling, she threw up her hands. “You win, you win! You found me!” Paige called, not bothering to try to throw the catgirl off as a sign that she indeed had lost, only shaking from laughter. “Of course, you had help from my no good brother who doesn’t stick by his family and if we were Italian would be dead right now, but you win!”

With a highly satisfied purr, Catseye shimmied her way up until she could warp both paws around Paige's neck, and then pressed her nose against the girl's gently in approval. A sidelong look was then spared for Sam, the cat's tail curling up deliberately in an interrogation mark. "Mrrr?"

"Glad to be of service, Catseye," Sam said, his giggling fit finally subsiding. "Ah think my dear sister occasionally needs to be taken down a peg or three," he continued, grinning at the tableau before him. "Family or not, Gee gets too big for her britches sometimes."

Paige scrunched up her nose playfully, rubbing it against the kitty’s. This was a very cute cat. Girl. Yes. Sam’s words were met with a slow, icy slide of her eyes over in his direction. “Watch it. You’re not quite at the place or position where you can be making comments about my ego.” Content with her warning, Paige grinned and returned to her new purple friend. “Was I the last one?”

Catseye keep best for last! A nod confirmed Paige's question, Catseye then cheerfully plopping down on Paige to be petted, twisting up like a pretzel in the process because she knew only too well that it was the best tactic for a cheek rub.

Life was good. She could figure out where the Silly Kitten had gone later.

"So," Sam said, standing up and picking his bags up off of the floor. "Ah'm back. How've things been while Ah was gone?" He hadn't even really kept much track of the journal system, simply helping his mother out around the farm and playing with his younger siblings.

Paige smiled down warmly at the kitty in her lap, earning a purr as she scritched under her chin with a finger. Still smiling she looked over at Sam, not even bothering to be angry for right now. How can one be angry with the cutest cat in the world in their lap? “They’ve been... okay,” she said finally, whether she was speaking for herself or someone else, unsure, but believing what she said and almost surprised by it.

An amiable purr seemed to support this statement, Catseye reaching up to lay one pay on Paige's cheek companiably. Mine. Am faintly interested look was turned towards Sam and she angled her head forward towards him a bit, whiskers arching in his direction curiously.

He was definitely feeling in a bit of a silly mood after watching Catseye pounce Paige. "What, no kitty hello for me? Ah'm crushed, Catseye, really." Sam smiled. It was kind of good to just relax and be silly for the first time in quite a while.

“The cat has good taste, obviously,” Paige retorted, but not entirely unkindly. More the regular sibling banter. “Or, you know. The fact that I’m her prize now and she’s planning on never letting me out of her sight again. Probably a combination of both.”

Catseye tightened the paws she had wrapped around Paige's neck, purring enthusiastically, though she did spare a coy look for Sam, tail curving back and forth in a slow hello. Splodeybutt! Hello!

"Well, Ah suppose that'll have to do. You got good taste, for sure. Gee got all the looks of the family, no matter what Jay says," Sam said with a grin. "Shall Ah leave you two girls to it?" he asked as he picked up his bags and headed toward the stairs.

Paige just giggled, content not to argue and let someone call her pretty. Not to mention picking on Jay was always fun! Yay, family. Paige watched him climb the stairs before finally breaking down and calling out, “Sam!” His slight turn of the head was her indication to go on and she offered him the tiniest of smiles; he wasn’t forgiven, but. “It’s... It’s nice to see you back.”
