Hank, Alex, Monday afternoon
Feb. 7th, 2005 02:30 amHank runs into Alex outside, and they both decide that adopting a second brother is a great idea. To celebrate, they decide to do something very, very naughty... (Warning, do not try this at home unless you have a cast-iron stomach!)
Hank had decided that he needed some sunlight. He couldn't remember when he'd last gotten some, which was generally a good indication that he was due. And even after the fun of the Superbowl, he was still feeling a little down. He brightened a bit, though, when he spotted Alex also enjoying the thin, bright winter sunlight. They'd had such a nice chat, in the Medlab, it would be good to have another talk without scary medical stuff interrupting it. He waved, ambling over. "Alex! Good noontide to you!"
When he heard Hank's voice, Alex glanced over his shoulder, grinning. Quickly changing the direction of his board toward the doctor, he skated over before coming to a stop in front of where Hank stood. "Hey man, what's up?" he asked cheerfully as he kiced his board so it jumped up into his arms.
"The sun," Hank said solemnly, and then he grinned. "And I felt a need for some fresh air and actual sunlight. I haven't been going out before dark often." He looked around. "I do like winter," he said reflectively. "Summer, while it does have its charms, can be quite unpleasant to one clothed in a perpetual fur coat."
Alex flinched teasingly. "Ick I can imagine. But personally, I think it could be a bit warmer. Scott may feel at home in Alaska but I prefer Hawaii personally." Then he cocked his head to the side. "Spending to much time in that meblab of yours? That can't be healthy, man! Do I have to play little brother with you too and make sure you get out and play more?" He smirked to show he wasn't kidding.
"That would be appreciated, actually." Hank smiled. "Not too often, but now and then... I'm a forgetful man, sometimes, and it doesn't always occur to me to go out in the big blue room and sample the 'fresh air' I've heard spoken of."
"Hey, it's my job to look after Scott and since you took care of him, it's my job to take care of you too." Alex crossed his arms over his chest. "I'm a firm believer in fresh air as a stress-reliever."
Hank laughed. "I believe that makes it my job to take care of you, too," he pointed out, feeling a lot better suddenly. "I shall have to go out and buy you socks. And Broadening, Instructive books."
Alex rolled his eyes in mock distress, "Just what I need, another big brother." But his smile proved his feelings otherwise. "But at least now I'll have someone else to bug when Scott, Lorna and Shiro get too annoyed with my hyperness."
Hank grinned. "I don't mind hyperness. In fact, if you catch me after a serving or two of Twinkie Sushi or chocolate fudge icecream, I'll even participate. I have a long-standing and fervent love-affair with processed sugar."
"Maybe Lorna will let up on that if she finds out I've adopted you. Anybody who gets me out of her hair when she's preparing lesson plans, she'll love forever!" Alec couldn't help but laugh at the thought. "Oh yes and did I mention I know where her secret stash of chocolate is? The good stuff?"
"Ooh. I have a secret stash, too." Hank grinned. "And if you ever want to entirely distract her, I can go into her kitchen and make a sundae in one of her salad-bowls again." He snickered. "Last time she saw what I call a nice big sundae, her face went as green as her hair." He paused reflectively. "I think it was the half-can of processed whipped cream that really did it. And the chocolate chunks sprinkled over the top."
"Ohh...that sounds like fun! We should do stuff like that in her kitchen more often, she works too hard and could use the distraction." HIs tummy grumbled a bit. "I could go for one right now, actually... Wanna join me in making a royal mess? I'm sure you have more Scott stories you can tell me."
"I do. Including many kitchen stories." Hank grinned reminiscently. "Like the time we sculpted a severed hand out of marzipan and left it in the fridge on a plate...." All right, that had mostly been him... but Scott had helped, and had participated in the giggling and listening for sudden shrieks of startled horror. "It was terribly artistic...It had bone poking out of the bloody stump and everything."
"Oh Lorna would so kill us....We should so do that!" Alex was getting exicted, because finally he was getting an accomplice to cause trouble and who would willingly take on his brother. "Plus I think we need to cook up some ways to get Scott to smile more often...I'm convinced he's going to get premature wrinkles or something."
Hank grinned. "Oh, I wouldn't dare. Anyway, I've done that one." He paused and grinned. "A severed *foot* on the other hand.. that would be new." He grinned. "Of course, a foot is bigger than a hand. I would require help in eating the evidence before the Professor can see it."
"Oh, whatever we don't finish, I have a a willing recruit to help in the form a little Japanese girl." He knew Leyu would be a willingly accomplice with anything that included sugar, as long as they didn't tell her where it came from, then she couldn't tell. Then, Alex smiled fondly up at Hank. "This looks like the beginning of a beautiful brotherhood."
Hank laughed, and slung an arm around Alex's shoulders. "It does, doesn't it? We shall celebrate by sharing a sundae.... a really, really big one." He grinned. "And eat it in the kitchen, so Lorna can see it. Then, of course, we will have to find Miles and come back outside and run around whooping until all that sugar wears off a bit."
"We'll be running because Lorna will be chasing us!" Alex laughed as he gave Hank a real hug. "And Leyu wouldn't miss this for the world. I say it should be our duty to get the entire under 10 portion of the mansion population on a sugar high before supper. You game?"
Hank thought about it, and then threw caution to the winds. "Why not?" he said cheerfully. "You go find the kids, I'll go get my Secret Fixin's from my office. We'll meet in the kitchen, find the biggest bowl we can, and start mixing. I think eight different flavours of icecream should be sufficient... and a dozen or so bananas, for Token Food Content. And then, of course, there's the chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, whipped cream, chocolate chunks, coloured sprinkles..."
"I love the way you think dude!" Alex dropped his board to the ground preparing to kick off. "Meet you in ten!" he called as he pushed off to skate toward the mansion, throwing a quick grin over his shoulder to his new adopted big brother.
