After the conquering heroes come home with the rescued, Forge finds one of the other Mistra survivors, and brings him the good news.

Forge opened the door to his suite, taking two steps, then falling
back-first into the couch. He'd managed to squeak out of the medlab
before everyone started pouring in, but he felt a significant amount
of pride. While no medical genius - hell, medicine was as foreign to
him as dating - he'd managed to help out.

He glanced down past his feet to Kyle's bed, where his roommate sat,
fidgeting slightly. He could tell Kyle was nervous, the reaction had
become habitual it seemed. Then he remembered Kyle's story about how
he'd been brought to the mansion, and everything clicked together in
his head.

"Six," Forge said, peeling the sterile rubber glove off of his right
hand. "They brought six kids back."

"Six?" Kyle gaped at Forge. "Six? Holy .. shit." How'd they get
six? "My age? Like me, with the claws and stuff or like Nate, or ..
what?" And why'd they have six kids? Jesus. Six. He shook his head in
disbelief.

"Couldn't tell," Forge replied, pulling himself to a sitting position.
"Looked normal. All younger than you, I think. Little banged up, but
okay for the most part. Some other folks too, pretty messed up. Doc
Moira's in there now with Mr. Dayspring. Says he'll be okay." Forge
smiled widely. "I heard Dr. Bartlet say 'we got them all'. They got
all of them, man."

"All?" Kyle blinked. "All the kids, or ... all the people?" He shook
his head. "No, wait, I don't wanna know, actually. Figuring its all
the kids, cause I don't wanna think about the rest of it." Younger
than him. Huh. He growled and gritted his teeth. "Cause mostly I
end up wanting to hit things, and that's no good."

"He was smiling," Forge said quietly. "Mr. Dayspring. And it wasn't
his usual 'durr, my brain done 'sploded' smile, no, he was really,
really happy. I know these are the people that, you know, did stuff to
him. Same way he got you out, he got these kids out. That, I mean,
wow." Forge let out a long breath and wiped his forehead. "I didn't
know there were people who could DO that."

"Told you he's not a ninja." Kyle muttered. "Nate's awesome, and .. "
He shrugged. "Not much more to that, I guess." And he figured he
should probably go talk to Nate, once he knew everyone was okay, and
that Nate's brain wasn't broken again. "Do... Did any of the kids
look freaked? Like... " Kyle let out a sigh. "Okay, you remember how
fucked up I was first getting here? Nightmares and all? Any of that?"

Forge shrugged. "Couldn't tell. They were shook up, think one of them had
a broken leg, but - from what I get, whatever they did to Mr. Dayspring and
tried to do to you, those folks never got to those kids. They're going to be
all right."

"Good." Kyle snapped. He'd had kind of vague thoughts about going to
see if he could be useful at all, or at least go tell the doctors
about -all- the nightmares and not just the ones he'd reported, but if
the kids were all okay, he might not have to.
