Alex lay on his back in a small clump of trees that were scattered around the mansion grounds. His head was pillowed on his hands and his eyes and face were deviod of any emotion. He stared straight up at the dieing sky, trying to think of nothing.
He heard the blast from a few rooms down and had come to see what had happened. When he'd spotted Jono, the pile of rubble and the unconsious Paige, Alex had known exactly what had happened. He took a step forward, to help or something, when he blinked and Paige's prone form turned into a small girl in a pink frilly swimsuit. She'd been chasing a ball on the beach that day. Alex had stopped suddenly, causing him to blink again. In his mind's eye, he saw a young man, who had been lounging on his surfboard, watching his buddied in the surf as he took a break that day, in place of the small girl.
Instead of taking another step forward, Alex had fled, the unconsious victim changing in his mind with every step. He knew thier faces by heart. He'd seen them, before he blew, and in his nightmares he'd seen what his blast had done to them.
When he'd gotten himself outside the mansion, that was when the images that would haunt him surfaced...the images of a certain green haired girl in Paige's place, with a blond instead of Jono standing over her.
That's when he'd found this secluded grove, hidden slighty from the main enterance and put himself in his current postion. He didn't plan on leaving untill he had erased those images from his mind, all of them, so they wouldn't haunt his nightmares.
Thus he lay, thinking of nothing...and everything at the same time.
