Backdated to Wednesday night. After eating far too much of Hank's fudge, Jubilee stops in to visit Nathan. He's a bit foggy from the painkillers, but notices that she's glowing. A lot.

Jubilee opened the door softly, peeking in to see if Nathan was awake. She'd just finished with Hank and had been looking for something to do while she came down off the sugar high.

Small fireworks sparkled in the air around her and on her skin danced a shimmering net of plasma sparkles. It was an interesting effect and Jubilee had been somewhat surprised that an overdose of chocolate could have this kind of effect on her power.

The other effect of course was that she felt like bouncing off the walls, or running, or maybe just talking really really fast so that people's eyes crossed trying to keep up with her.

She giggled at the image and decided that making people's eyes cross would need to be done forthwith.

"Nate, you awake?" she asked, trying to keep her tone serious but unable to control the small hiccupping giggle that escaped.

That'd teach her to control mirth, now she had the hiccups. She put on her most serious face and then descended into more giggles as she realised how silly she must look with her mouth all scrunched up like she was sucking on lemons.

Nathan, drifting rather pleasantly in the painkiller-haze, heard someone call his name, preceded and followed by giggling. "Not
really," he muttered, the words coming out slurred. His eyelids felt heavy enough that he couldn't quite manage to open his eyes properly.

Jubilee pouted, if he was sleeping she really didn't want to wake him up, because waking up sick people was bad and then she'd have people making frowney faces at her and yelling and...Maybe he was just pretending though - she did that sometimes when Paige tried to wake her up in the morning. Then Paige'd pull the covers off her and Jubilee would throw a pillow at her and swan off into the bathroom in a pretend huff.

But she wasn't allowed to touch him, touching broken Nathan was bad. Maybe she could go a little closer though and check if his eyes were really closed though.

She padded softly into the room and peered over the end of the bed, being careful to not move close enough that her sparks would touch him. "How can you talk if you're asleep though?" she asked, thinking it obvious that sleeping people shouldn't be able to talk.

Unless he was talking in his sleep, but sounding like he was awake. Which really, was a terribly interesting talent and she'd have to ask him how he did it as she wouldn't mind being able to do that. It'd mean she could sleep in class. Although, him being one of her teachers it possibly wouldn't be a good idea to give that reason.

"Said I'm not really awake. Not that I'm asleep." That made perfect sense, didn't it? Nathan forced his eyes open, peering up at the blurry... glowing shape. Glowing. "You're glowing."

Jubilee bounced and then realised she was meant to be being serious. You had to be when you were around sick people because...well, she couldn't think of a good reason but she was sure the medlab was kind of like the library and she was always being shushed in there, which was probably why she studied late at night, really. No one around to shush her then.

She'd even started singing once at the top of her lungs, as revenge against all the shushers in the world.

"Hank gave me fudge!" she exclaimed, grinning at the little sparkles hanging in the air in front of her nose.

She should name them, although since they didn't last more then a few seconds each she'd run out of names very fast. And really, who would want to be named Xanadu, anyway?

"Chocolate and mutant powers," Nathan murmured. "Bad combination. Look at me and Angie..." He just hoped that Jubilee had control over the...little glowing things. If she damaged any of the equipment there'd be very upset doctors in here very quickly.

Now that she knew he was awake, at least enough that she could talk to him without bringing down 'X Trek 3: Wrath of Doctors'. Or was that 'X Trek 4'? Anyway, now that she knew, she could sit down.

She wandered over to the visitors chair and slid bonelessly into it. It was far enough away that her powers wouldn't destroy any of the technology in the room. She'd learnt early on that her mutant powers and technology didn't co-exist very well. Blowing up your first laptop was a fairly good indication of that, she'd always thought. And well, there'd been the melted alarm clock too.

"He kept making humming noises and saying 'Interesting'." she offered.

"Mm. Hank?" He presumed it was Hank. Sounded like Hank, in any case. His eyelids fluttered a little, stubbornly trying to close. "Shame on him... experimenting on the students. Least I didn't mean to make Angie's precog go boom... wouldn't have done it to my own, too, if I had..."

"Don't think he meant to. An no one gets between me an chocolate." Jubilee replied, snuggling down into the chair. It really was a comfy chair, and now that she was sitting down she was getting the urge to burrow. Especially since her eyes had suddenly decided to indicate that they'd like to close. "S'okay though, doesn't hurt an the lights are pretty."

"That's good..." So long as she wasn't going to blow up the room or expect him to engage in conversation, she could stay there, he decided magnanimously, and let his eyes close.

Jubilee murmured softly, what she was saying not terribly coherent as her own eyelids now firmly closed over her eyes. It really was a comfy chair, and this way she wouldn't have to walk all the way from her room in the morning to read Nate another chapter of LOTR. She'd gotten to Weathertop and she really wanted to know what happened next. Okay, so she'd seen the movies and knew pretty much what happened but she'd never *read* it before.

There, she thought happily, she could totally justify falling asleep in the chair.

The glow slowly faded out of the room, replaced by darkness and Jubilee's even breathing.

Later...

Jubilee blinked and wondered what had woken her up. It was still dark in the room and she could hear Nathan's breathing, slow and deep which meant he must be asleep. She winced as her neck protested the way she'd been sleeping on it. Much as the chair had seemed comfortable in her sugar addled state, she was going to pay for it now.

Time, she thought, to beat a hasty retreat to Madelyn's room and the couch. Especially since she had an idea the doctors wouldn't have been happy with her for disturbing Nathan when he needed his rest.

She pushed off from the chair, and quickly padded out of the room.
