Lorna explains to Alex that she's going on a trip without him and he takes it incredibly well. Lorna's shocked. She promises souvenirs. He helps her pack.

Lorna finished dictating her last reply to Paige then signed off her laptop. Packing was going to be interesting with the arm and such but at least she still had the wheelchair that Hank had scrounged up for her. Hurrah for modern technology. Also hurrah for not feeling like she was being crushed by EM fields anymore and actually being able to use them again. She shifted herself quickly from the couch to the chair and grabbed her plans off the coffee table. They were fairly complete though not color-coded like Paige's would have been and covered most contingencies and necessities. Well, she reflected as she heard the door open and close behind her, almost all of them. She turned the chair, "Hi, sweetie."

Alex came into the room, a volleyball under his arm. He was still slightly sweaty from teaching the littleuns a form of volleyball, which had been mostly them standing in a circle trying to keep it in the air then anything to do with a net. He took a quick detour into the bathroom to grab a towel before coming over to give her a kiss. "Hey hun, what'cha up too?"

She smiled and shrugged, "Planning a trip. You look like you had a busy day. Did the brats run you ragged again?" She tugged at the hem of his slightly damp shirt to illustrate her question.

Grinning, Alex stripped off the shirt, revealing the containment suit underneath. "Just teaching the kids the basics of volleyball. Was actually quite fun!" He pulled a chair up to sit beside her. "Where ya going?"

Rats, she'd hoped he'd talk about his day more. "Disneyland with Paige. I need to see the parents and she's…well, I think she needs a vacation." She reached out and ran her hand over his shoulder and down his arm, testing to make sure the EM fields from the suit still matched his properly.

He took her hand, kissing it as he held it between his. "I know you've got a bit more control now, but let's not kinx it. You can worry about my suit later." Alex smiled at her, cocking his head to the side. "So you're kidnapping Paige to go to Disneyland? Like soon?" He glanced at her arm then he leg.

"Just checking. Doesn't require any effort." Lorna glanced down at the papers in her lap then smiled sheepishly, "Like in eight hours?" She didn't give him a chance to respond before rushing on, "I know, the arm and the leg and yeah but really, I need to talk to my parents in person and putting it off won't help." Plus Paige seemed a little on edge in a way that Lorna had mentally dubbed a lead up to a Day of Rage. She'd stolen the term but couldn't remember from where.

Alex blinked in surprise. "Eight...eight hours? Your leaving for Cali in eight hours?"

"Yes?" She said in a small voice, biting her lip. "Last minute but spontaneous is good. Mostly. In this case."

"And umm...I really hope this doesn't sound rude but, dude, when were you gonna tell me?" He cocked his to the side, curious now.

And that was a very good question. "Well, now obviously." Lorna said then pulled her hand back so she could leaf through the papers on her lap. "This literally just happened. Well, sort of. I actually asked her to go a couple weeks back and we've joked about this for longer than that but the actual planning and leaving was like…two hours ago tops." She handed him the itinerary which clearly showed that it had been booked only an hour and a half prior.

Grinning, Alex smiled now. "Ahhh...alright I see. No need for me to feel all left out then." He stood up slightly to kiss her on the cheek. "Anything I can do to help?"

Lorna sighed in relief, "You are so the best boyfriend ever. Seriously. I was worried you were going to be mad or hurt or something." She tilted her head back and tapped her mouth asking for a real kiss.

Alex blushed slightly as he complied. "I do try. Plus I have to stick around. My acceptance letter should arrive any day now!" He was excited, for he had no doubt he was going to get into University of Hawaii, but still the letter made it definite. "Need help packing since I see you've gotten sooo far?"

She laughed, "I'd love some help. I was just about to get started. You have to call me the second the mail gets here if I'm not back. Before you open it even." She grinned. Hawaii was going to be awesome. Hmm, she'd have to tell her parents about that too while she was in California.

"Will do! I'll make sure you're on the phone as I open it." He got up and wandered over to the dresser to get stuff to put in the suitcase already situated on the bed. "So, what can I start packing for you?"

"I was thinking the blue dress with the yellow flowers. It's like 80 degrees in Cali these days and that's a nice summer dress that won't make the parents lecture me on why cleavage is trampy." Lorna went over to the closet, plucking at the fabric of the aforementioned dress. "Mostly I was planning on skirts and stuff. They'll just be easier to deal with."

Alex opened a drawer and rummaged through it, picking out some of her skirts. "Sounds like a plan to me, though I now I think you're teasing me. You know how much I love you in that dress..." He gave her a playful wink as he moved the clothes over to the suitcase.

Lorna batted her eyelashes at him, "I promise to wear it again when it isn't still…what do they call this season, Spring?" She watched him pack skirts. "What exactly do you expect me to wear that black mini with? And how am I supposed to sit in it?"

"You better..." He growled softly before giving her a curious look. "What black....ooh!" The mentioned skirt had been under another light pink one and Alex had picked them both up by accident. Blushing, he moved to place it back in the drawer. "Wishful thinking?"

"Very wishful. Call that another one to save for warmer weather. Possibly not places with other people around." She grinned and waved him away from the suitcase, "That's plenty, love. I'll only be gone a little while. However, other types of clothes will be necessary." She wheeled over the chest of drawers and began going through them herself. "Can you get my leather jacket? I think it's on the chair in the kitchen."

"Of course not with other people and without your boyfriend...not that I doubt your loyalty of course. It's purely my manly pride." He kissed the top of her head playfully as he quickly ducked into the small kitchen to grab the asked for jacket. "So what are you gonna talk to the 'rents about? Pardon me for being curious, but the Thanksgiving/marriage speech still worries me..."

"I'm not going to tell them we're getting married. Though telling them about Hawaii was on the list." She smiled at him as he came back in. "Mostly though, it has to do with this." She touched her right shoulder, still in its brace. "Before we left for Greece, I was trying to write them and explain. And I realized that I couldn't do it that way, leave them a letter to read after something had happened. So, I'll go. They'll yell. And just maybe I'll get them to understand."

Alex nodded as he placed the jacket next to the suitcase then lay down on his stomach beside the jacket. "Ouch, that sounds like a lot...sure you don't want more back up?" He rolled his arms and rested his head onto of them, his bangs falling over his eyes.

"Honestly? It's always easier with you there." She went back over to him, dumping an armload of clothes into the suitcase first. "But I think it'll be better just me and Paige. She needs away time. And I don't want them to get sidetracked wondering if we're going to elope or something. You and me, that is. Not me and Paige."

Alex grinned as he nodded. "I understand. Don't want to distract them when you have something very important to tell them. I hope you and Paige have a great time."

"I hope so too because the Disneyland Hotel? Not inexpensive." She leaned forward and gave him a quick kiss. "I'll miss you bunches."

He returned the kiss, leaning up on his elbows. "And I'll miss you terribly. Bring me back something tacky and disneyish I can taunt Shiro with..."

"Something from Pieces of Eight, maybe? Or should I go totally cheesy and raid the Indiana Jones store? You know you want an Indy hat." She laughed then looked like she'd been struck by inspiration. "I'll get him mouse ears with his name on them! And the Mickey gloves!"
He couldn't hold in a laugh. "You get as into as you want as long and Leyu and I can have fun with it." Then he ducked his chin and gave her a sly look. "I think you're the one who wants to get me into an Indy Hat..."

"You would look really, really good in an Indy hat." She leaned forward again and smiled lazily at him. "There's a natural hotness about the Indy hat."

"You bring one back and we'll see about having some fun with it..." Alex wiggled his eyebrows before leaning in to brush some hair behind her ear. "I love you..."

"I love you, too." She caught his hand and laced her fingers through his, smiling softly. Then she sighed and grinned at him mischievously. "I need to finish packing and that's so not what I'm thinking about right now. You're really distracting, you know that?"

He flashed teeth when he grinned. "It's part of why you love me." Then he moved to sit up, still keeping their hands clasped. "Want more help or do you want me to leave you alone?"

"I'm going to give you the very serious task of finding me food for the plane that I'll eat. Because there's not a chance in hell of me eating airplane food." She laughed, "Also it will keep you from being a distraction and making me think about how I'm really tired of looking at that containment suit."

Alex kissed her knuckles quickly before standing up to head out to the kitchen, detouring to where his shirt lay from earlier. "So I'm guessing you want me to cover it up then?" He threw back playfully over his shoulder.

Lorna rolled her eyes, "Not actually my thought, no but probably a better option given the whole have to pack thing."

He picked up the shirt and tossed into the hamper. "Well you don't have to leave for the airport for a bit...if you finish packing by the time I get back maybe we could...play a little?"

"Oooh, a reward system. I like it. That gives me proper motivation." She checked the time. "Okay, so I need to leave in what? Four hours? That should be good enough. Let's see if I've learned to speed pack yet. In the meantime, you, carrot sticks, find."

Alex turned to give her a mock salute before ducking out of the room. "Yes ma'am!"

Lorna cracked up then turned her attention to figure out how to fold clothes one handed.
