Lockheed and Alex meet
Apr. 29th, 2005 12:50 pmWith Lorna now back in the kitchens, even limitedly, Alex had a lot more free time on his hands. And while he loved spending time with his girlfriend, he also loved spending time outside on his board. Today instead of the ramps, he decided to just explore the grounds, skating down some of the less used paths.
Lockheed clearly was not hunting. If he were hunting he would catch the tasty looking small furry things that kept vanishing under the grass, but he was not hunting, and he meant for them to get away. Yes. Spying another one of the fuzzy things (were they teasing him with their hiding-under-leaves and going squeak-in-a-provoking-manner?) he launched himself off the branch he'd settled on, diving towards the mouse across the path, completely unaware of the person coming his way.
Rolling along and minding his own buisness, Alex barely had time to react when he saw the large pruple thing jump down from the tree. He couldn't even process which of the many purple beings in the mansion it was as he attempted to put on the brakes. As Alex was attempting this, the front wheels of his board hit a branch lying on the path, pitching him forward and into whoever it was, sending them both rolling down the path.
"Meeeep!" Lockheed cried out, his wings just barely snapping back onto his back before he went rolling down the path. What had happened? Where was he? Who was he? No, wait, he knew that one. Who had run into him? "Mer?" He'd stopped rolling by now and pushed himself up onto his haunches, looking around.
Groaning, Alex opened his eyes where he lay on his back, staring up at the trees. He could already feel brusies forming all over his body and the weak hit as his board rolled into his leg. Taking a moment to decide if he wanted to move, he resigned himself to turning his head to the side to see who he had taken down with him. Seeing the small purple dragon, he closed his eyes and groaned again. Wonderful...
It took Lockheed a moment to recognize the boy who had run into him - after all, he was not usually lying on the ground. When he did, though, his eyes widened in alarm. This was the Green-haired Queen's Boy! Was he hurt? Would the Queen be mad at Lockheed? It hadn't been his fault! He quickly moved to the Queen's Boy's side to peer down at him worriedly? "Mer?"
Hearing Lockheed worried noise, Alex opened his eyes again and blinked. He'd never really had much contact with the baby dragon so he wasn't quite sure what to do. Licking his lips before sitting up, he rubbed the back of his head. "Sorry about that Lockheed...you startled me." He looked the dragon over to see if he was hurt, but then again, how would Alex know that? "Are you okay?" Kitty was usually a nice person but he wouldn't want to mess with her if he hurt her dragon.
There were some definite bumps and a little scratch on one of Lockheed's arms, but he'd be ok. Of course, if there was a chance of coddling and/or food he'd play it up, but first he had to make sure the Queen's Boy was ok. Lockheed peered closely at Alex, spotting a few forming bruises and making little worried noises over them. Finding an unbruised patch of his arm, Lockheed patted Alex gently with a paw.
While he had been at the mansion, Alex had been fussed over by Lorna, Hank, Scott and even Shiro...but never by a baby purple dragon. "Lockheed, I'm fine. Don't worry." He smiled to prove it, though the back of his head was still killing him.
Claiming you were fine when you weren't was not something Lockheed had any experience with. If you weren't fine, you either wanted help or you were ok enough to want to be taken care of, and if you were fine and could get away with being taken care of, well, then you whimpered a little bit until someone gave you a hug or food. Or both. So Lockheed took the Queen's Boy's reassurance at face value and gave a little sniffle, holding out the arm with the scratch for the Queen's Boy to examine.
So that's what puppy dogs eyes looked like...Alex had always wondered what his secret weapon looked like though he never thought he would see it from Lockheed. Carefully, he examined the scratch on the tiny arm. "Don't worry Lockheed. It's nothing a little food can't cure." Lorna had often spoken the praises of the little dragon who worshipped her every step so Alex knew exactly what he was after.
Oh ho, the Queen's Boy was clever. He knew exactly what the cure was and said so right away. Excellent. "Meh!" Lockheed said happily, beaming up at him.
After standing and dusting himself off, Alex picked up his board in one hand and offered the other to Lockheed for a ride. "Come on, Lorna's been cooking bit lately and I know where the best stuff is hidden in that monster fridge." Knowing Alex couldn't fend for himself in the kitchen, Lorna had recently made him a few meals which he had hidden from the rest of the mansion and he wouldn't mind sharing with the small dragon.
Oooooh. Specially treats and a ride. Between the hand up and a little lift from his wings, Lockheed clambered up onto the Queen's Boy's shoulder, settling safely down.
Shaking his head with a small laugh, Alex made his way back to the mansion with the small dragon along for the ride.
