Nov. 1st, 2004 11:24 pmMondy afternoon, set after this log and this e-mail, Alex goes to Lorna's suite to find out whats going on. He convinces her to come out of the bathroom and into the safe heaven of his own room.
Alex had luckily been in his room when Alison's e-mail had gone through and after sending e-mails to his teachers for the rest of the day, he was up and heading toward the girls' suite. The door was wide open and Alex stuck his head through before walking in. As promised Alison was no where to be seen. Still curious what was going on, he walked over to the bathroom and knocked on the door. "Lorna?" He couldn't hear his own voice so he hoped he'd said it loud enough. Perfect time for him to lose his hearing.
The knock was louder than his voice but enough to pierce the haze of pain enshrouding Lorna. She whimpered, “Go away!” then remembered that he couldn’t hear her. She instantly felt guilty about wanting to shut out Alex of all people. Without any finesse she unfused the hinges and lock, opening it just enough to be an invitation, though a grudging one at that.
Hesitantly, Alex peeked around the door and his heart melted at the sight before him. Lorna was clearly upset...no more then upset, she was completely distraught. Biting his bottom lip, he slowly came toward her and kneeled beside her. "Hey..." Alex's tone was soft, not sure how she felt about touch right then.
At the sight of Alex, Lorna went from wanting to be alone to desperately needing someone to cling to. She shook without crying though her red rimmed eyes gave mute evidence that she’d done no little of that. With another whimper, she crawled into his lap. Her face and hair were damp, at some point she’d ducked her head in the sink and given serious thought to just leaving it there.
He was for one very glad she hadn't and Alex resorted to cooing softly as he held her in his arms, rocking her gently. Oh yes, Alison was going to get grilled about what the hell had caused Lorna to be in this state. But right now, he needed to get her out of the bathroom. "Lorna, can I take you into the bedroom?" He asked gently, just in case she wanted to adamantly stay in the bathroom. If so, he wasn't going to argue the point.
Stay here? In the suite? “Not here. Not here.” She shook her head, talking into his chest, quite forgetting that he needed to read her lips. She clutched him harder, still shaking. She didn’t know where Alison was but right now she couldn’t take seeing her. “Anywhere but here.”
Alex bit his bottom lip again as he tried to figure out what she wanted. Her head was shaking, was that a no? But the expression shown by her body showed a different thought altogether. Alex was so confused. Taking a deep breath, he cupped her chin in his hand. "Lorna, love...calm down." he kissed her forehead then added, "Let's get out of the bathroom okay?"
She nodded slowly, “Anywhere but here.” She spoke clearly this time and let him help her to her feet. She doubled over as they began to straighten, her stomach still sore. She’d have fallen if she hadn’t been holding on.
After her near fall, Alex just picked her up in his arms as he often did. He'd noticed her clutch her stomach and made a note to get her something to help that once he'd gotten her calmed down. Not sure where Lorna meant by 'Anywhere but here' he made for her bedroom, figuring her bed would be more comfortable then the bathroom floor.
That got a reaction. “No! Not here!” Lorna tugged at his t-shirt, trying to get his attention while on the edge of panic. “Not here!” she begged.
Alex's eyes went wide, really confused on why she was panicking about going to her own room. He thought for a moment before asking, "My room then?"
Lorna nodded and buried her head back into his chest. In his room they were much less likely to run into anyone undesirable. Two names loomed large on that list right now. The fact that Alison was one of them was so out of the realm of anything normal that it made her feel sick again.
Sensing the urgency to get out of her suite, he carried her out the door and down the hall. Pausing to nudge up the door to first the suite then the room he shared with Shiro, Alex gently set her down on his own bed, leaving the door open so Shiro would know he was in here. "Can I get you anything?"
Lorna shook her head and just held on to him. “Stay?” she asked. She would be fine if he left, she told herself. If he had to go, she could be okay.
: Sighing, he climbed up onto the bed beside her, letting her curl around him however she found it most comfortable. Alex kissed her gently before settling himself. "You get some rest now...we can talk about this later..." He spoke softly, one hand rubbing her back.
She curled up, one arm wrapped around herself and the other looped around him. She closed her eyes and stayed as still as possible, keeping her breathing even. She waited without much hope to fall asleep.
Alex continued to rub her back gently, his other arm holding her loosely. From the look of her, he knew Lorna was going to lose her battle with sleep soon, and he was content to just sit here and rub her back until that happened.
Once Lorna falls asleep, Alex IMs Alison to find out what the heck is going on, since his lack of hearing didn't help in that regard.
Kauwela Nalu: Hey Alison, care to explain why Lorna is currently asleep on my bed after having a total wiggins when I tried to put her in her own?
Songbird: ...hey. Did she tell you anything at all, or did she do the 'I'm a clam' thing?
Kauwela Nalu: Let's just say she was too upset to say anything in a way I could understand at the moment. Deaf remember?
Songbird: Oh. Right. I guess that means I get to explain.
Kauwela Nalu: Please?
Songbird: Right. Sorry 'bout the delay. What do you know about what happened between her and Manuel a while ago?
Kauwela Nalu: If you mean what happened while I was gone...she said Manuel gave her a false high or something like that, which only made her feel worse afterwards. But what does this have to do with that?
Songbird: It was a bit more than that. More involved, more traumatic. She equates it to rape, although she's never said it out loud.
Kauwela Nalu: I got that feeling when she told me. But still...what does Manuel have to do with her crying in the bathroom just now?
Songbird: He asked me to help him train. I set up the situation not long ago - I'd say I didn't mean to only I did. I'll take responsibility for that. So, I agreed. And she found out about it today. I... wasn't hiding it. From anyone really. I was just- yeah. Anyway. Short version.
Kauwela Nalu: oh. So she feels betrayed because your helping the one who she feels raped her emtionally. Am I getting this right?
Songbird: Yes. That would be it.
Kauwela Nalu: hmmm...Well, I'll admit on one hand I can sympathize with her...But on the other, I'm sorry Alison. This must be really hard on you.
Songbird: She has every right to feel that way. Every right. I just - can't not do this either. I wish it were cut and dried and simple but it's not and... will you let me know how she's doing? Please?
Kauwela Nalu: Anything you want to know I'll tell you. I understand what your doing Alison, really I do. I'm just sorry this had to happen because of it.
Songbird: Just... don't let her hide out. Or do the happy face thing and crumble inside and she may skip a few meals over this and - I can't watch over her anymore. I'll try and stay out of her way but if you could let me know how she's doing that would help. Thank you.
Kauwela Nalu: I'll take over the watching, I just hope I'm as good at it as you were. Right now she's sleeping, but I know the happy face thing is going to come out tonight. And I'll remind her you're still there Alison...I think after she's had some space, she's going to need her best friend again.
Songbird: Don't. Don't mention me for now, Alex. She needs someone to be on her side right now. And I failed miserably there. You see?
Kauwela Nalu: Not now, but I'm not going to let you two stay like this. That would be just...cruel to both of you.
Songbird: Ok. Thank you, Alex. Don't know what else to say, really. Just... thank you.
Kauwela Nalu: It's no problem Alison. I'm sorry this had to happen, but I'll take care of her for you.
Songbird: Thank you. I should go now. I'll... talk to you later, ok?
Kauwela Nalu: Definitely Alison, definitely.
