Scott sits awake in the wee hours of Sunday morning and tries to compose a letter to Charles.

In which the resident pop star and the walking engine of destruction deal with the day's events and come to terms with concepts of sacrifice, maturity, and Second Album Syndrome.

True to her word, Jubilee comes down to medlab the night of the shooting incident bearing food and coffee. She and the grateful Doctor Bartlet talk for a while about what happened, and coping mechanisms. It's all in the gestures.

Coping mechanisms. )

Scott steps out to Harry's to get away from the mansion for a little bit. Remy has the same idea, and the two of them polish off most of a bottle of bourbon together.

You're sure dis isn't some tortured bout of self-loathing? )

In the middle of the chaos... some more! Manuel comes to apologise for being a dick. For once, it's not that simple.

I wish there was something more I could do./You could stop doin' it. )

Sunday morning, Scott is the first one to come in and inform Doug of just how stupid he was. Scott barely manages to keep himself from yelling at Doug, especially considering what happened the _last_ time someone decided they needed to sacrifice themselves to save everyone else, and makes the decision that this idiotic hero complex needs to be trained out of Doug.

I was in love with someone who wound up feeling like she had no options. Like there was only one thing to do and she couldn't ask for help. )

After Scott, Alison is the next visitor, and she's not very happy with Doug, either, especially considering his little emails. But she doesn't yell at him. Not verbally, anyway. She gives him a load of her body language and all of the tension and stress that's been on her. Doug is very contrite. She gives him the same sort of thwap that Scott does about training that idiot hero complex out of him.

It was like she was screaming at him without saying a word, and it was all the more effective for it. )

Its like Clue for the precog set. only not. Nathan and Marie-Ange discuss the plan to explain (ha) their precogntion (for as much of it as they understand, which is not at all much) before an upcoming post Nathan is about to make.

Secrets stolen from deep inside ... the drum beats out of time )

Nathan comes by some time after Alison, and joins in the "what you did was very stupid, Douglas" parade. Doug has no answers for anyone, and pretty much has to sit there and continue to take it. Still no sign of Angie, and Doug's starting to worry. A lot.

I know. I keep trying to come up with something to say, but the bottom line is, I was stupid, and I got lucky, and there's no good explanation for what I did. )

Jamie comes down to tell Doug how phenomenally bad his plan was, as if Doug didn't know that already... ;-) There's a lot of emotion, and some yelling, and a lot of crying, and discussion of who gets dibs on Guido kicking Doug's ass the next time he even thinks about doing something so idiotic. And at the end, Jamie reminds Doug that even though he's pissed, he's still there for him. Still no Angie, and Doug's definitely worried.

First rule of a good plan is _don't get shot_. )

A still-feverish Nathan decides to take it upon himself to yell at Cain over his comments on the staff journal after the blood drive. Cain yells right back, with a number of things Nate doesn't want (but probably needs) to hear. Motives and methods are the topic at hand, and Nathan finally comes to a couple of very important realizations about his role at the school and with the X-Men.

And in your waiting hands I will land / and roll out of my skin / and in your final hours I will stand / ready to begin )

Amanda comes down to heal Doug. Doug is a bit passive-aggressive, but Amanda reminds him that he's not the first one to screw up fairly spectacularly and be lucky to be alive at the end of it. Eventually, Doug gets tired of talking and just asks Amanda to sit with him for a while.

It's just...everyone's come in to tell me just how stupid I was, and I _know_ how stupid it was! )
